Have you played Batman: Arkham City? The combat is pretty simple at first, you just attack and counter for the most part, but it fleshes out as you progress and I think it is a bigger feature of the game than it is in the witcher (someone with more experience will have to clarify).
You could probably pick up the game of the year edition for around a tenner now.
