Haven't played a game in eighteen months. Uncharted 4 still sitting in its plastic, can't be bothered taking it out.

I think Red Dead Redemption 2 might be the one to drag me back in.

I haven't touched an AAA game in ages. Waiting for DA3 to be on sale, meanwhile playing Darkest Dungeon, Grim Dawn and standalone Gwent.

It was the first (and only) AC game I played. Lost interest when I found out that it wasn't usually a part of the series.

More outdoor landscape is important to my enjoyment of open world games. Have played a lot more whenever the game features forests, or rolling countryside, and sunlight.

the witcher: wild hunt probably has the most gorgeous open world i've ever seen, though not necessarily the largest. if you like sun-kissed country side burnsy, i'd suggest having a gander at that

Nice. I played a lot of Witcher 3 fairly meticulously, I did get bored and stop a while after I got to Skellige though. That was the last game I picked up.

Having just holidayed in Poland, I really enjoyed "noticing" Witcheresque aspects of the place! Heh.

Huge fan of the original Red Dead Redemption. Pretty enthused about some obscene frieze of homages to classic westerns and more bullet time.

Horizon Zero Dawn is probably the prettiest open world I've played in, all outdoors, incredibly draw distances and detail. Thats if you have a PS4.

Actually come to think of it, the Shadow of Mordor sequel also has me intrigued. Really enjoyed that game.

Really haven't been able to game as much as I would have liked over the last year or so. Last game I played properly was Metal Gear Solid V. Got a lot I need to catch up on as soon as I get the chance as I keep buying games that I end up not playong. I have LoU Remastered, Skyrim, Witcher 3, GTA V, Horizon Zero Dawn, Doom, Dishonoured 2, Fallout 4 and Fifa 18 just gathering dust next to my TV. Actually LoU is the only one I have actually managed to even take out of the plastic, the rest are still sealed.

Besides Fifa which I will not play unless I have some friends around, any suggestions on a particular order I should play the above? Which are the most fun, which are the quickest to just pick up and play whenever, and which should not really even be bothered with?

Had Fallout 4, Witcher 3 and GTA V, only one I finished is the latter. GTA doesn’t have the depth of the other two but it’s much more lighthearted and fun. Fallout 4 seemed like it had a lot of potential but once I stopped playing it I just couldn’t get back into it. Witcher 3 I gave up after failing to get past a particular phase (the bit where you dig up the foetus with the fat guy), I no longer had the will to try and I can’t even leave it and come back when I’m stronger as the last auto save is in the middle of the quest. Though it’s a good game I found it a bit of a misery to play. Never quite got the hang of gwent either.

I wss thinking about GTA as a next vame to play actually as it's the only game out of the above that I had previous history with as I'd played previous versions on older consoles. Used to love the first 3 or 4 but since San Andreas I haven't touched the series.

The rest of the games had onky been bought on recommendations from friends and on here but are completely new to me. I assume most of them are online style games thag require loads of hours of farming resources and whatnot in order to really progress?

Gwent's fucking boring, yeah.

I found it frustrating that they appeared to have hung a fair bit of the overall 100% off it, not that I completed Witcher 3.

I tend to prefer the Rockstar games, or things like Uncharted where the play time is a bit more capped and the feeling is a bit more directed and cinematic, rather than grind-y and open-ended. One hundred hours is not a resource I have available, twenty or thirty is more realistic.

Out of the games you actually listed, Loyan, I'd go for Last of Us. Nice narrative payoffs, very directed and it's not a huge time commitment.

Cheers BW. Will give that a look in. Its the only one that's actually been in my PS4 so far but I haven't played it yet.

Dunno who Gwent is but yeah I agree. (Un)fortunately never had all this variety of games in my collection 15 years ago. I probably would have just locked myself in my room and become allergic to the sun in my quest to 100% everything.

I'm guessing even if I play GTA V it will probably be to see how much damage I can do to get the highest numbers of police etc chasing me and trying to survive for as long as possible rather than actually playing the story properly haha.

I'd go for LoU, DOOM or Dishonoured 2 to start with.

The rest are time consumers. Not like an online game where you farm mindlessly to get experience and upgrade your character but with a huge open world you can (and should) explore with plenty of side quests.
