Finally caved in and bought Civ VI. I was originally gonna wait for a couple of the big DLC's to drop but I really got the itch this morning. I'm only a couple of hours in but the vanilla does seem a lot more polished than the former couple of games in the series were. Where the finished product of Civ V is a classic game the original release after a couple of runthroughs was as dull as dishwater. The two DLC's did a lot of heavy lifting there.
Enjoying the game quite a bit so far. The biggest thing for me so far is the amount of choices you are given in the first 20-30 turns that can radically change where your civilization is headed, where after a while the beginning stages of V felt awfully similar to each other. Another problem I have with Civ games in general is the later the game goes the more it feels like a chore, with too many units and cities to take care of. Hope they have found a more efficient way of doing that.
