Anyone played Watch Dogs yet? Want it but still got Uncharted 3, Last of Us and Infamous Second Son to finish so saving the money for the moment.

Is it true that the reason PC gaming now has a reputation as being "more affordable" is actually because of the dominance of console gaming (few PC exclusives anymore thus most games can run on PCs at high settings for 3-7 years which means less frequent upgrades)? Or was it always "affordable" and people who said otherwise were wrong?

A 'free' market for digital distribution coupled with the explosion of the indie scene makes the prices lower and the sheer amount of games bigger. Graphics cards and RAM memory are pretty inexpensive today too.

Mario Kart is excellent. Far and away better than the Wii version.

Been meaning to pick it up. I've read some outstanding things about it. I'm skeptical toward the decision to leave out the battle arenas though. Battle mode used to be the best thing about Mario Kart when you played against a couple of friends. It didn't take much time to design either, because the arenas relied on emergent gameplay as opposed to skilled driving. It wouldn't have been that hard to add the new mode on top of the old one.

They left out battle mode?! That's actually horrible news. Always been my favorite part of the game.

They didn't leave it out per se, but they changed it completely from what I've gathered. No more battle arenas where you face off against other players. It's made up by tracks from the main game now instead. It's designed for 12 players too, so there are a number of CPU players included at the start of any given battle.

I haven't tried the battle mode yet, but I suspect they will add more arena style levels through DLC.

In my opinion, battle mode has been atrocious in every edition except for the snes one anyway, so I'm not fussed. I'm glad that they put the extra manpower into the racing.

This was the deal that tempted me. Think i'll hold on for now, as there aren't too many releases that interest me. Watch Dogs does looks decent, mind you.

I found one of my old controllers yesterday, speaking of NES. The B button wasn't working so I took it apart to clean it. It was full of 20 year old grime:

I reattached one of the wires to the board too. I was thinking about installing a longer cable (the original one is only about 6 ft which is pretty short by modern livingroom standards), but it sounds like too much work. I'll probably ebay a couple of these instead:
