Speaking of keeping old consoles, is it worth trading in the 360 for the Xbox One?

I'm thinking I'm better off keeping it, if nothing else, I can hook it up to the TV and watch Sky upstairs.

Xbox One is not backwards compatible with 360 so if you want to keep your games you might as well keep the console too. You won't get much by trading it anyway if it's more than a year old.

My son has made it to the same division as I am in at FUT, div 2, and his team is worse than mine. Proud dad! Means I suck though which isn't all that great.

Not too worried about the games, I give most of them away to my nephew once I'm done with them anyway. But yeah, I think I'll keep it.

Unlike the PS3 which is a completely different platform to the PS4 I wonder if they could introduce backward compatibility to the XBOX One. They are really suffering a bit in sales hence them dropping a lot of things and now getting rid of Kinect + brining price down. If they could introduce that I think it could really help them turn things around. PS4 will only be able to do it via the online streaming but there should be no reason XBOX can't do it natively.

Yeah, it is. They should still be able to emulate old games mind, but no one wants to do that when there are 2-3 years of sales left in both the Xb360 and the PS3. Backwards compatibility is beneficial to the players but detrimental to the console manufacturers.

Yeah you're right, had a quick google and the XBOX 360 is based on the PowerPC whereas the current XBOX (and PS4) is based on the x86 architecture.

I got a bunch of old NES cartridges off ebay last week. I didn't have much to do today so I opened them up and cleaned the contacts. I've never done this kind of stuff before but the procedure was pretty straight-forward.

When I cracked open Legend of Zelda I noticed that there was a small battery attached to it and remembered that some of these games used battery backup to save progress. Almost none of those batteries still work since the games were made 25-30 years ago. There were three cartridges with batteries all in all (Zelda, Deja Vu and Dragon Warrior I think), so I decided to change them myself. I just used some button cell batteries with the same strength and size. I found them hanging in the grocery store. The whole procedure was fairly easy. It took about three minutes per battery, and I work slowly because I'm pretty terrible at soldering and desoldering. Zelda saves like a charm now. I'm just waiting for that luxury NES to be released so I can enjoy it on a non-CRT screen. The picture quality was really bad when I tried to connect my old, non-RGB composite NES to my HDTV.

Tempted to take the next gen plunge soon. Seeing some decent deals on the PS4 recently, though still not sure what to go for having had the 360 for 8+ years.

Is there any news/rumours on the consoles with E3 round the corner?

Nah, but PS4 is killing the Xone in sales and has the better multiplats so far.

PS4 is more powerful than the Xbox too. I reckon that will tell in games to come.

Yeah thats always more of an issue as a console gets older. Just look at the exclusives on the PS3 in the last few years.

Xbox may have better exclusives in the long run though. Depends on your tastes. Most people only play FIFA anyway.
