Meh. For some reason games are less accepted for being meaningful and culturally rich than, say, films are. I have no problem with it really, but "hipster" as an insult sort of loses its meaning when it's thrown around by people whose only experience with video games is blockbuster entertainment. It's like discussing film with people who've only watched The Avengers and Inception during an entire year. It seems a bit pointless to me but each to his own.

I'm still catching up with the state of modern gaming after a long-ish break from any real gaming at all from about 2002-2010, so some of the new gameplay idioms have yet to lose their charm and I've got many years of games to cherry-pick highlights from.

I'm not sure I want to go further and become an enthusiast though, think I should probably go on hiatus again if anything. That said I should have a look at stuff like Journey that a few people have tried to put me onto now.

Only thing I play is FM and FIFA, I just don't have the time to play regularly so I like concentrating on one game (usually FM).

I usually leave at about 8h and get home around 18h or 19h, never have time for games any more 🙁

I play loads of games. Loads of AAAs and loads of indies and most AAA games are average and dull and most indies are interesting for about an hour and then get incredibly dull. The thing about AAA games though is that they have a much higher ceiling so when they are really good they can be amazing.

Don't have time anymore either. Play Fifa once a week if I'm lucky. Played GTA 5 for about 2 hours and not touched it since, and I was actually enjoying it.

Only played a small bit of GTA too. Didn't even bother with Fifa this year.

For the same reason I stay away from golf I stay away from driving games and getting a wheel; serious risk at getting hooked.

Played FIFA on the PS4 for the first time last night and it was awesome. Seemed to play so much smoother than the PS3 version and the graphics were breathtaking, just looked so crisp. Also liked how the fans looked much more like individual people celebrating which previous FIFA games have never quite got right. Being the first game I've played on PS4 it make me quite excited about future games.

They can cram much more detail into the PS4 version, obviously, because of the more powerful machine. I honestly hardly ever think of the crowd frankly. Think it depends on what sort of camera you choose.

Couldn't go back to playing it on PS3 after that experience. I have also never really thought about the crowd, it just hit me last night when they showed a close up of a group of fans celebrating a goal that I hadn't see that much detail before.

Think there are also team specific chants in there. Read somewhere from one of the EA people that PS3 wasn't really powerful enough to have 3D crowds. If you look closely, I think you will see that shorts and shirts also move in a much more realistic way.

Switched from a 4-4-2 formation since I was sort of stuck results wise. I was going back and forth between div 3 and div 4. Tried a 3-4-1-2 formation, and I went and won div 3 at a canter at the first attempt. 7 wins, a draw and 2 losses. Hardly conceding, and scoring 3 or 4 in pretty much every game. I am a pretty crap finisher too... Well pleased with myself. 🙂

Definitely team chants. "Arsenal, Arsenal, Arsenal" was very noticeable for instance. You still on PS3 Rex or have you upgraded?

The grass texture is improved too. Amazing.

Still on PS3. Will be some time yet before I upgrade too. Will certainly sync my upgrade with the release of a new FIFA. 🙂

That's actually true about the grass. For some reason my FIFA profile has Ukraine flag pop up next to it. 😆

Same here. Played GTA for three/four days, then absolutely lost interest and never returned.

Got back to LotRO for now.
