I just dont understand the need for some of you guys to add derogatory adjectives every time you want to mention Wenger on this forum. We all get it that you dont want him here anymore. But is that really necessary?

I already said that Gervinho was far from the best player...

You're wrong about Gervinho tactically; he doesn't need to be Arteta, he just has to know his own role and he does. It's clear as day.

Theo kills our game, but I'm not really in the mood for that conversation and I am a long time fan of the kid.

It's ultimately a question about where the goals will come from. We played well enough today but still didn't score from open play. We don't look like we're about to score for fun anytime soon either. We're probably going to have a hellish time against Reading without the help of the referee. You need wide players who know how to score, how to stretch a defence, how to contribute defensively and how to beat their man. Ours tick one or two of the boxes at the most. They're all flawed in certain ways. Chamberlain is the one with most potential by far.

He wasn't on fire. Michu is on fire. At best, Gervinho was smoking from the ears.

Podolski does go missing more but there are plenty of extenuating factors in his case. And he still manages to be more productive than Gervinho. If he's doing the same this time next season I'll begin to worry.

If its so easy to improve Gervinho, gotta wonder why it hasn't happened.

For all the talk of Theo's technical flaws, it's pretty obvious that Gervinho has plenty of his own. He can dribble past a man, sure, but his passing and shooting technique is absolutely dire.

His running technique isn't smooth and graceful like I'm used to either, very unbalanced, ungainly, Arms all swinging helter skelter stride.

I have. Not too successfully, but the fact that he has even tried tells me that he has a basic understanding of the game.

Fair enough, let's leave it at that then. I'm just not a fan of Gervinho's game, as I think you've figured out by now.

Liked what I saw of ox today as well.. didn't influence the game too much but he was varying his play a lot more instead of constantly running down blind alley.. maybe a bit fitter too.. hope he kicks on from here

Saw that Wenger said after the match that there was "much more man" in Chamberlain's game than there was before.
I think that's an accurate description, after Jack he was our best player today.
It'd make our lives a whole lot easier if both of them play start consistently playing to their potential.
They'd be a real force to be reckoned with.

Walcott is miles better than Gervinho at the moment though so theres a lot more improving before Gerv is at the same level.

The thing is, Gervinho is just lacking the finishing. That is easy to correct.

Walcott is lacking the overall play. Tactically it is very hard to teach that.
