It was a question as i mentioned their midfield seemed to have more choices when deciding whether to go short, go long, drive, etc. Maybe they were just better players? The reason i mentioned zonal marking was because our players seemed to be giving them too much time on the ball, standing off marking lanes rather than pressuring the player on the ball like Barca and Manu, to an extent, do?

That would become a 4-2-2-2 of sorts. That might be good because we would in theory be able to pass through the lines more in attack, and eliminate the need for our useless wide attackers.

Jack AND Cazorla out wide... not gonna work. Remember the days of Rosicky and Nasri flanking whoever was up top? Zero penetration. And that was with a better team.

While we lacked in penetration with Nasri up front on the right we certainly held the ball much better. That was when we had genuine territorial possession which we no longer have.

But having both Cazorla and Wilshere up front with Giroud seems nuts. That's one small, slooooow set of forwards.

Not great but a hell of a lot better than anything else we can muster. As you say we'd have more possession in and around their box, both jack and santi can supply giroud well and both can find the net
