I think he's a decent striker, quite deadly around the box.

I think he is better than people give him credit for.

We are never going to get tier 1 top strikers like Falcao, Cavani, Lewandowski, Benzema, Higuain, Ibra etc.

So we can only aim for tier 2 strikers. Amongst the likes of him, Jovetic, El Sharawy, Pato he is the cheapest and most gettable so...

He's also, by an absolute mile, the worst fit for us from that group.

The thing is, Giroud's movement is really good but he haas a tendency to drop deep if he's not receiving the ball. Subsequently, our midfield struggles for options in the box. Additionally, it turns out that Giroud is not that deadly in front of goal.

Could Huntelaar solve both those problems?

Giroud drops deep because we can't get the ball into the box. It would be more of the same with Huntelaar.

Maybe but I'm wondering if Huntelaar would be more likely to just 'goal-hang' (for want of a better term).

When I say he's not a good fit, it's more a personal preference thing - I'd prefer a striker more comfortable wih the ball at his feet than either Huntelaar or Giroud, mainly because it would give us options.

Totally fair and I agree, just can't see us attracting anyone of appropriate quality in that department.

I was just comparing him to the guys Clarence mentioned - though you're right, I can't see us signing any of them either.

We don't need him. We need a better number 10 and better delivery from wide areas. ANd all of this is because essentially our MF is dire! Song/Cesc departures in particular have left us very mediocre in that area.

IMO we need 2 MF currently. An AM/CM and a DM. It is pathetic that our first choice CM pairing is a perma crock Diaby and an over the hill Arteta.

I don't like him but for £6 million I'd take him. We don't have any good box players in the squad. Huntelaar would surely be a better option to bring on when we're looking for goals than Francis Coquelin.

He scores goals, and i think he'd continue to do so regardless of who you put around him.

Not a huge fan, but he impressed me a lot against England recently. Looks like he actually wants to score goals which is different to our lot bar giroud

He would only score 3 or 4 of those goals in that video at Arsenal as we don't create situations like that because Wenger doesn't like the opposition's 18 yard box. It doesn't even matter if we sign Jovetic AND Lewandowski, it would be more of the same.

A team is only as good as it's manager, and the difference in quality for top level players makes less of a difference on the outcome of a game that we'd like to believe.
