We would be a step down for him. Unfortunately.

Unless his dream is to play with Gervinho, we have no chance getting him.

As good as Dortmund are it is the German league

And he's German. What's your point?

He'll be earning more at any of the clubs I mentioned, and will get more coverage in spain and England for a player of his reputation

You see how most German internationals don't leave Germany? Yeah...

Some do some dont, money and reputation talks, we will obviously just be a stepping stone unless we can win something in the meantime. Nowadays there's Podolski per eisfield Gnabry at arsenal Khedira ozil at Madrid boateng went city

Similar question would be to ask yourselves whether Wilshere would consider going to Valencia or even Atletico Madrid

Point remains, it isn't a two-bob league to them. They are living the dream.

And Bundesliga is rapidly going places anyway.

Sam, without my Arsenal bias, i cannot see any reason for him to move from a Championship winning team playing beautiful football at home infront of amazing crowds, apart from money but we don't pay that much anyway so ...

For what it's worth, I reckon he will stay there until at least the world cup.

Gotze may well want to prove himself elsewhere, as do most footballers, but comparing his situation to the aforementioned is a little indulgent. None of them played for a club that enjoyed the kind of success that Dortmund are at the moment.

He's more like Schweinsteiger in that respect.

As we are right now Gotze wouldnt give us the time of day. But thats mainly to do with the state of the team rather than the size of the club.

This is why selling van Persie was so mental. He was the last remaining semblance of seriousness at the club.
We are going to have to pay over the odds to convince a Cavani or a Gotze to come here. Not necessarily pay a big transfer fee, but really reward the player for taking the risk. I feel like you almost want to target two players concurrently and get a buzz that they will both come to give each of them the comfort that this is the way forward.

Someone like Eriksen or Jovetic might be easier to haul. Guys like Gotze can play anywhere, so it will be a complicated sell. If Wenger and Gazidis manage it, I'll be impressed

Fine with me

Why would they add a buyout clause worth less than what we already offered for him?

so that bullshitter clubs like arsenal can't lie about how they bid X amount for X young hotshot and the selling club just wasn't interested because it's more embarrassing to say "yeah we've really fucked over this club and made it unattractive to the top players so even if we bid high, the player just won't agree to terms with less than serious clubs."

3 months later

How much would Gotze and Reus realistically cost?

Lewandowski is gone in the summer and they don't really need money, so it would have to be an offer that they couldn't refuse.
