Yeah Capi, but they've had an impressive CL run as well, and they haven't fluked it like Chelsea either, but instead been the better team against Madrid and City.

We got to the champions league final in a terrible season too. It doesn't really mean that much in the bigger picture. Well at least not as much as dropping twenty points of the pace as defending champions, again in my opinion.

A lot of theories around about the timing of this announcement. Some a bit far fetched but not sure what to believe.

I wonder what he is being paid, if it is 12mill euros he could always ask Uli Hoeneß for some help with tax planning 😉

Just read on Redcafe that Klopp in his press conference said that he doesn't believe the story was leaked by Bayern, Gotze or his agent.

Like I just mentioned there were some rumours going about how this was leaked out. Maybe another club leaked the story out....

I think United will be sniffing around Robben.

Pep might play Gotze as a false 9 as he did with Messi, would allow fan favourites Muller, Ribery, Schweinsteiger and Kroos to all play at the same time. It could work as well, Pep doesn't need a big centre forward to play the style of football he encourages and there are enough good finishers to compensate for the lack of a traditional 9.

Bayern, Real and Barca are all miles ahead of everyone else. City and Chelsea are the two teams with the resources to catch them but both teams need major investment to come close, even then it's unlikely as the current crop of elite players are already at those three clubs. You're not going to find another Messi, Xavi, Iniesta, Alves, Ronaldo, Ramos, Alonso, Cassilas, Ribery, Schweinsteiger, Neuer, Lahm etc. elsewhere.

He implied that Barca leaked it.

Big difference between Gotze and Messi is that the argentinian is one of the best finishers to ever play the game. That position Messi plays looks beyond Gotze to me, at least in the near future.

Fair enough, but I don't think that one bad season in the league is an indicator of a drop of quality. It could just mean that the team is inconsistent, or made a slow start and couldn't catch up. Both Madrid and City have had the same players as the season before, but they've had disastrous league campaigns.

Dortmund still have a raft of top talents coming through.

Getting fucked by the big guns on their established players and theirs us plucking their pubes with eisfeld

You're right, but losing four of your best players in the space of two seasons will have a significant impact no matter who you are. It's easier to destroy than to build afterall...

Put another way, would you bet on Dortmund winning the league next year? I wouldn't. Still, you never know, Guardiola may be a colossal fuck up on their part.

Bayern must have been working on this deal for ages. I can't imagine Dortmund forking Gotze over without a fight.

Well I'm not a betting man so I wouldn't bet on either team - but seeing how Klopp has handled Dortmund in the past, I'm pretty sure that he'll do something to keep Dortmund challenging again (and I don't count this season as Dortmund challenging just because they'll finish 2nd).

32M is it? I'm pretty sure Dortmund will invest in the team.

They will have 50m plus once lewandowski goes, but their wage budget is tiny (less than half of Bayern's) and they aren't going to change it any time soon.

Basically, all I am saying is that they won't get players as good as those two for the start of next season and they have already weakened two summers in a row. We've all seen this film before.

Of course. No team can do that with world class players. United had 80M and they bought Valencia...

Anyway, this gives someone else an opportunity to step up. Reus perhaps?

"The reason Gotze is leaving? He is the favorite transfer of Guardiola," Klopp told reporters.

"So if it's anyones fault it's mine. I cannot make myself 15cm smaller and learn Spanish! Gotze wants to work with this extraordinary coach that is Guardiola.

"I cannot preach football of quick transitions and now start playing Tiki Taka."

😆

I think most people consider Reus a better player than Kagawa.

Klopp is funny! 😆

Klopp's dementedly animated during games, got an odd sense of humour I reckon.

Honigstein said a couple of weeks back that they have a basic deal sort of agreed for Dzeko once Lewandowski leaves. They are also targeting De Bruyne who has been Werders best player. Plus whatever cash they have.
