The only one who can come out of this with his head held high is Arteta. The only Arsenal player who played to normal standard.

What angers me the most is the obvious lack of committment, fight and urgency. We have changed the playing personnel, many times over even, we have changed some of the backroom staff, but the root problem still remains. Only one constant as far as I am concerned.

Bean may moan about teams getting men behind the ball (as they should) but the fact is he's come across destructive tactics like this on numerous occasions and f he had anything about him as a manager he'd have developed a way of dealing with stubborn retreated defences

It's a good point, as far as banks go. You can't just absolve the players from personal responsibility though.

No of course not they're top players, its a team game and at this level tactical systems and style of play are crucial.
And now it must be obvious to all that Wengers tactics haven't changed in 5 years, they're tailored to an open flowing game where the opposition are prepared to come out themselves.
Our response is always the same when faced with a closed door we just pass it back and forth trying to walk it in until eventually we lose it.
When faced with a closed door that you can't find the key to- the solution is to batter it down.

This is not a criticism of individual players Cazorla and Arteta tried everything they were our most potent threat, its simply the system that Wenger has them in is too unbalanced and milfielder heavy and they have no outlet.

It's a two way street Biggus, you can't place all the blame at Wenger's street all the time something goes wrong but refuse to credit him otherwise.

People say he absolves the players of responsibility too much but when the team fails all the blame is rested solely on his shoulders but when the team does well, it happens in spite of Wenger because of Fabregas/Cazorla/Van Persie/Whoever.

All he could do was put out 11 players on the pitch.

Did he pick the wrong team? Yes

Wrong tactics? Yes

Should the eleven players that he did pick do their utmost to ensure we didn't lose the game? Yes

The team let him and us down, as a manager there's really only so much you can do. You pick a team and then when they go out there and play such abject shit then what can you do. You're only allowed to make three subs and give a half time team talk.

I know I'm probably not putting this point across well enough or it might just be me who thinks this way but I honestly believe we don't have the players at this club that matches Wenger's vision of how to play football.

It doesn't imply that the conclusion would be to sack him. It just means that there are things he can rightfully be criticised for. There are also undeniable pros to having him as a manager.

After 8 years then yes.

I get it. He shouldn't be sacked for this game alone. Also the players were lacklustre and they are to blame too. We can't win every game anyway.

But performances like this have been common for far too long. We are 10 points behind the league leaders already. It all builds up season after season after season. Wenger needs to make a drastic change.

It'll be obvious when we become title challengers and this is not it.

Wenger will continue to make the same mistakes every season and we will continue to pretty much have the same bloody season weve been having since 2005 bar one or two title shots (2007/2008 was the real and only title challenge since we last won a trophy to be fair).

Anyway, today's performance was the worse since we played Milan away.

Prob one of the worst away day Premier League performaces I have seen in ages too, almost as bad as Shefield Utd away in Dec 2006 or West Brom away in 2005.

Today we looked the slowest a Wenger team has ever looked.

Today also showed why Cazolra should not been named world class after just 4 games, not the first time he has not shown up and to be world class you need to do it week in week out over a long period of time.

Vermaelen is a joke at the moment, quite overrated in many aspects when you think about.

The least said about that fat slob Santos and that idiot Gervinho the better. Giroud is a dud too.

We missed Gibbs today imo.. he is always providing width. Constantly bombing up and down the wings. It's streches the pitch and allows Podolski to cut inside more

I certainly didn't.

I thought Santos looked good. Bit out of form, which is understandable, but encouraging performance all the same. He took some responsibility and drove forward with purpose in midfield when others failed to do their job. I bet people would've rated it as a good Gibbs performance.
