I take your point about "household" names though, but I think it's got more to do with recognition than class. For instance, has there been a better centreback in the world than Barzagli over the past two and a half seasons? They have Chiellini too who seems to get an unproportional amount of hype sometimes. Lichtsteiner might be the best wingback in Europe, and Vidal and Marchisio aren't exactly unknown. What they really lack, and I think this is why people still don't mention them in the same breath as other top teams, is a world-class forward. Will be interesting to see if Llorente turns out to be that guy.
