He's garbage, and Wenger knows it. He'd dropped him long before the ACON. Wouldn't be surprised to see him leave in the summer, though lord knows if anyone rates him enough to buy him, or anyone in France has enough cash to pay his wages.

I don't dislike him as much anymore now that he has a more limited role. Actually starting to think he might be an alright squad player if he's used properly. We've got decent options for the wide roles - Podolski Theo Chamberlain, Cazorla can play there too, so Gervinho sucking isn't a major problem. Would certainly sell if there was interest in him though.

Don't want him anywhere near the squad. I'd hate to be chasing a game against a top team and see Wenger signaling for him to go get warmed up.

Very few coaches would actually bother to account for Gervais whenever preparing their team for games against us.

Armor: Same. I have a suspicion that Gervinho will make a pretty good squad player next season. He always seems to perform better when the pressure is off. And Wenger won't start him anyway unless there are a few injuries so it's not really a problem at the moment.

He changes the dynamics of a game. His last sub appearances have been vintage Gervais, except that he scored, in that he prefers to start wide, dribbles past a cat or two, has a poor final ball or finish. Either way - it gives the opposition something else to think about, which ultimately leaves more space for someone else.

We aren't good enough to carry attacking players who can't score or assist, even as subs. We need everything we can get between now & the end of the year, but unless he absolutely transforms his game, I think he'll be sold.

I don't think players in midfield or out wide in attack have to score or assist to prove they're useful. But it just so happens that he has been missing many crucial chances along with Giroud. The next question is whether he brings some sort of chaotic effect that allows us to create chances. Maybe. But ultimately my disgust is based on the fact that he clearly just doesn't have any balls. I don't mean he can't do a Van Persie and win you a game - none of our players can be counted on to do that. But, at least, you have to be confident a forward is likely to take a chance in crucial situations. In tense situations, he just turns into a wreck.

Wenger has given up on him. If we can find a buyer we will sell, but it's difficult to imagine anyone outside Europe will be willing to pay the sort of wages our average (I don't mean average as in mediocre, I mean 'normal') players must receive on our wage bill. Newcastle were willing to take a punt but I think the premier league must be just as underwhelmed as we are.

Yep. He's like one of those head down run with the ball kids you used to get in the playground.

To be fair he stretches defence and can trouble even the very best defenders with his agility

Re-watching the game yesterday, Gervinho was really such a handful. He has everything you want from a wing attacker, pace, directness, dribbling ability, close control, off the ball movement and workrate. EXCEPT consistency in finishing.

Such a shame, nobody is perfect.

You mustn't excite yourself too much, Reading were the worst team we've played all season.

Oh and Gervinho doesn't lack just consistency in his finishing, he lacks finishing full stop. He can't kick a ball to save his life, never mind with power or accuracy.

He's more effective to me when he comes on as a sub to take on tired legs and tired minds.

And only against shitty teams.
