In fact, unless there's an injury crisis, I'd Be surprised if Gervinho starts another game for us.
Diaby is actually really fast.
I'd say the only thing Gervinho has over Diaby is forehead. Other than that, Diaby's clearly the superior talent. It's just a shame his proneness to injuries render him pretty much useless in the end.
Gervinho still has this burst of pace from a standing still position for about 3-5 yards that allows him to beat almost anyone when isolated 1v1, provided he does not forget the ball behind him (which unfortunately happens too often). I think he got passed the fullback twice against Blackburn with disconcerting ease, only for his cutback to have been woeful (essentially cutting it back blindly hoping it would find a teammate).
Yep, like I said in the match thread, only van Persie could read his random movement and passes.

absolutely not. diaby is ten times the footballer gervinho will ever be or ever was.
I don't think it matters at the end of the day. We're more likely to struggle with either one of them in the starting eleven than we are to play well. It's understandable that you don't have everything worked out when you're 20 but Gervinho is 26 in May. Diaby turns 27 the same month. They'll never amount to anything on a football field. Just give their game time to Ramsey and Chamberlain.
Not in the squad. Reckon he'll be available for transfer in the summer, but he might be another we can't get rid of.
christ, another one, eh?
10 million for him, and 15 million for Arshavin. And neither of them even made the squad last night.
Wonder if anyone in League Une will take him? Perhaps a swap deal for someone like Capoue, N'koulou or Cabella would be ace
It's fun to ask "would you swap this player for that player," but that never ever happens does it? Cashley for Gallas + 5M was the last time I can think of.
I remember him, he was another fat Brazilian cunt.
Was a very good player. Ruined himself by going to Real Madrid I think and was a shadow of his former self by the time we got our hands on him.
He was too slow for the pace of our league.
Doing well for Malaga currently, albeit coming back from long term injury
Thought its very interesting for Wenger to come out and say that about Gervinho. He obviously is always affected by criticism and fans reaction towards him. A true confidence player
i have no time for players who shrivel and wilt under pressure. competing for trophies necessarily involves big pressure, and if you can't handle it, then you should play at a smaller club.
What did he say?
A reporter said the goals against Swansea came from unlikely sources. Wenger: Yup. Then he realized what he had said and expanded on it regarding Gervais.

Arsène Wenger hopes Gervinho’s goal in the win over Swansea City will boost the forward’s self-belief because he has a major role to play in the remainder of Arsenal’s season. The Ivorian scored his first goal for the Gunners since October in south Wales, latching onto Aaron Ramsey’s pass before sliding the ball past Michel Vorm. Wenger was impressed with Gervinho’s 20-minute cameo at the Liberty Stadium and is backing the 25-year-old to regain his confidence. “I know that Gervinho was under a lot of negative pressure because he missed chances and as well because I know how big that win was for us,” Wenger said. “He had the African Nations Cup and came back a little bit jaded but now I’m sure until the end of the season he will be a big force for us. “He is sensitive - he needs the support. He wants to do well, he loves football - when he doesn’t score of course he is down. “He gives us something different. He can dribble, he can provoke. Recently I felt he lacked confidence because when he got in front of goal you could see that it was not spontaneous. I hope that goal will give him a lot of confidence.”

The bolded alone makes his position untenable here. That's the very definition of a weak underbelly.
