In Gervinho's defense both Chamberlain and Diaby were worse than him yesterday. It all goes back to how poorly balanced our attack is. Gervinho can stretch a defence and beat his man. He's just useless at everything else. Having him and Chambo offering support to Giroud was always going to end in disaster. Neither Rosicky or Diaby offer many runs in behind the defence from midfield either. Cazorla always needs to start for that reason and so does one of Podolski and Walcott.

Does Gervinho even enjoy his trade?

If I was a striker that could not score I would spend hours after training trying to improve my finishing. I would be watching dvd's of the greats like Wright (who always stayed late in training to try and improve), Suker, Signori etc.

Does Gervinho even care he is shit?

The problem is to me players accept their fate and dont do anything to change it.

Gervinho does not know how lucky he is playing for one of the greatest clubs in the world. He will regrett not making it here in 20 years.

I think a lot of it is in his head thats harder to train for.
Maybe he could see a sports psychologist or something, maybe a hypnotist to convince him he's Drogba.

His run to be on the end of Rosicky's perfect pass was excellent but the sight of the goal looming in front of him was enough to put him off actually hitting his target

Was a fairly 'normal' miss, nothing embarrassing or desperate about it. I would be more worried about the complete lack of attacking initiative from anyone.
