Van Persie was useless(minus the goals) in pretty much all our away games last season and in some home games too. Thing is, he's only ever useful in general play when we are dominating and are in complete control of matches, isolate him a little bit and he's a complete passenger.
Let's be honest, given the stature of our club and the quality at disposal, our tactics shouldn't be based on dominating teams home and away, hardly no one plays that way, only Barca do. Most other teams try to be more street wise, looking to hit other teams during moments of transition, Van Persie is not the ideal striker for this type of tactics, he's more suited to a team like Barca who'll look to play around him all the time. We've seen him struggle for the Dutch team(whose game isn't about dominance) and currently at Man utd(another counter attacking team). Isolate Gervinho and he can still make things happen, I'd take a more aware and slightly more technically accomplished Gervinho over Van Persie any day of the week, certainly in the current Arsenal team. I just dunno yet whether the Ivorian has it in him to make those improvements. Just get Jovetic and be done with.
