Adebayor was useless in front of goal too. Same with Ljungberg. It'll come eventually if he's working hard enough to improve.

He gets himself into dangerous positions time and time again, compare that to our other attacking midfielders and I don't we have anyone else who is constantly at it all game like him. Most of it doesn't come off but who else could we put in his position and cause issues?

There is something there with him and I think he just needs to calm down and use his vast forehead to think and be more calm because he snatches at things.

Not sure he'll ever have the composure in front of goal needed to become a top player, but he's still a very good and very dangerous footballer.

Adebayor got most of his goals due to his sheer physicality and pace. But, he still wasn't as clinical as he could've or should've been with us despite that one season he scored 30. With Gervinho, I think it's got a lot to do with composure. You can't learn that. He will be even more frustrating than Adebayor was.

Pretty sure Adebayor was very clinical at one point. I remember his stats being similar to the likes of Torres. Or am i remembering wrong?

He's so random. Even his own teammates are confused about what he's going to do next. Sometimes he skins players like they don't exist and others he runs right into the player. It's frustrating but the skill is there for sure.

You're remembering wrong, he was a donkey.

Adebayor became a clinical finisher in his last two seasons here. You just can't score some of the goals he did (Spurs, Villarreal) if you don't know how to hit a ball. His main problem was that he was a bit daft. Couldn't stay onside if his life depended on it, for instance. The amount of attacks he broke down was insane.

That's pretty much how i remember him.

We know Gervinho is a bit fragile mentally. I think he tried too hard after that poor touch early in the first half. It did get to him. Against Southampton he passed well, today he tried to do much, the early chance got to him. His movement is excellent and he does cause chaos.

two wingers. One can dribble and cant shoot. The other can't dribble but can shoot. Great.

Anyone saw Mertesackers reaction to Gervinho's miss late in the game? The BFG wasn't too pleased, that's for sure.

Adebayor is a much better finisher than Gervinho, but he's still a possession vacuum even now. Was the most wasteful striker in the league last season in terms of shots-goals or shots on/off target or some such basis. Getting Into good positions is his strength, for sure, as is his versatility in being able to score in different ways, but his technique is ropey-as a lot of the time.

Anyway, these days I can't stand strikers (or forwards) that can't finish. Gervinho included.

He's brilliant in everything he does other than the lack of shooting technique and a inconsistent first touch. I would describe him as a raw diamond.

Very infuriating, considering he does so much right, superb off the ball runs, works hard, dribble well, but final 3rd lacking.

He just loves his dribbling into cul-de-sacs. If he was more intelligent in when to distribute and what areas to dribble into, he'd be much more effective. That might be a lot to ask for though...

Adebayor was never, ever clinical. Good player, but never reliable in front of goal.

Yeah Adebayor scored because he got so many chances, that was partly the midfield behind him but it was also alot to do with him as well.

Gervinho seems a bit streaky to me, I reckon he'll do well for a while and then drop off completely. Right now despite todays finishing he's in good form, may as well utilise that.
