Heard the Milan vs Roma match had to be halted for a while due to the racist chanting by the Roma fans. Totti was sent over to talk to the fans, ridiculous it is still exists at the highest level in Italy.

It's a social problem. It's ridiculous that it occurs anywhere.

Being black in Italy is a novelty for a lot of them.

I remember being shocked by how many African beggars and homeless men I saw in Italy - far more than I've experienced anywhere else in Europe.

Yeah that is true but you would think in a developed country like Italy this wouldn't be the case

I've heard that before.

so that doesn't help. They will naturally see blacks as inferior beggars if that's all they see. Anything else will be the exception or a novelty. Harsh but true.

Never been to Italy but would like to go because of the food and positive cultural aspects.

Why not? You think because a country is industrialized that the people are all reasonable?

America is/was even more developed and arguably historically even more racist.
