salary or payroll caps are a horrible idea. why let owners have a cartel? why do we need to help them by artificially limiting their expenses? all it would do is divert profits from the players to the owners, which is the opposite of socialism, really.

salary or payroll caps would have zero effect on ticket prices, since the owners will always price those for maximum revenue independently of whatever their costs are. what those people actually want are price caps on tickets, with no resale above face value allowed in order to prevent a secondary market from forming.

Well, exactly the joke, yeah. A salary cap is socialism for owners and feudalism for everyone else who's left tithing cable subscriptions and ticket money to the lords.
