There was racism at the Inter game tonight.

Don't think so (if you're talking about AC Milan). The entire team walked off earlier this season when Boateng got abuse in some training game against a lower league side. It's a common problem in Italy though. The Inter fans gave Balotelli a lot of racial abuse the other week too, which is ironic because they didn't like him much when he played for them either. He gets plenty of abuse when he's with the national team too. Lightskinned players like Camoranesi and Motta who grew up in South America don't seem to evoke the same response.

Uefa forced them to close the stands. They've been warned four times already this season about racial abuse, and that's just in Europa League. They've picked up more than £200 000 in fines too along the way.

In all fairness the vast majority of Italians love Balotelli, as for most of them, their allegiance is to the national team first and foremost. Him and El Sharawy have probably done more for diversity and against racism than anyone else in Italy just by being Italian and being good at football. Of course, a small minority of idiots remain.

And more importantly, it seems to some fans during club matches that it's proper banter to make racist comments/chants/gestures if it's directed at an opponent. This is what needs to change.
