In all fairness the vast majority of Italians love Balotelli, as for most of them, their allegiance is to the national team first and foremost. Him and El Sharawy have probably done more for diversity and against racism than anyone else in Italy just by being Italian and being good at football. Of course, a small minority of idiots remain.
And more importantly, it seems to some fans during club matches that it's proper banter to make racist comments/chants/gestures if it's directed at an opponent. This is what needs to change.
