Song completes transfer to Barcelona

Might as well lock this one, or at least move it to General Football since he's not an Arsenal player anymore.

Everyone at Arsenal would like to thank Alex for his contribution to the Club and wish him the best of luck for the future.

Does this mean we just sold him because Arsene wanted to and not because we were forced to sell?

It means that the club wishes him good luck in Spain.

i mean you dont know who this source is but if what his saying is true that arsenal executive needs to be revealed and shot, yes song wasnt the best of players but if he was wanting to stay and this executive didnt bother renewing his contract he deserves the sack, and then covering it up with songs lazyness and poor attitude.

Maybe they didn't offer him new terms because they wanted to sell him...

Is it juist me or does Song look a bit unhgealthy in the face. I bet the club found out he had some sort of blood disorder and shipped him off before the shit hit the fan. Good move imo.

Shit player out - quality player in. Good stuff all round.

I have it on good authority that Song was a massive fan of the Twilight series too. Don't want cunts like that at Arsenal tbf.

What a load of rubbish.

I don't really care enough to think much about this, but that's crap. Glad he's gone. Wanted to stay my arse.

Shit player or not. It might have some truth in it. it was a bit odd how quickly and the timing of his exit, and the way wenger spoke about it. Having said that he wont be a big miss, but how long before the same thing happens with vermaelen etc.

I don't find it hard to believe that Song asked for a meeting/meetings to talk about a new contract with better terms. I can also understand why the club is reluctant to hold such meetings.

It was claimed that Arteta had similar wishes at the end of last season.

β€œAlex Song was massively committed to Arsenal, he loved the club and was dying to sign a new contract,” a source close to Song told Telegraph Sport.

β€œWe tried six times to renegotiate his contract. They kept saying it has three years to run.

A source with that sort of information sounds a lot like Darren fucking Dein. :gah:

Sahin in, Song out good bit of business and a massive upgrade. Without Song in the midfield we don't have to worry about loosing the football.

When we put Song on 55k a week in 2009 when he was still complete shit, and no other decent team would have given him the time of day, I bet he wasn't complaining.

Is it about the money though? He's reportedly signed for Β£70k a week at Barca! That's a decent raise but it's not a game changer when you're watching your colleague move to United on double his old wage.

If it's about the money, it's probably about Darren Dein's commission more than Song's wages.

I think Dein got in his ear and fucked things up. If they really have tried six times to renegotiate his contract early it's no wonder he came to be regarded as a troublemaker.

In short, I blame Darren Dein.

Probably. But surely he knew what he was getting when he hired him? We all know Dein's MO, so the players must know too.

he has to have had a good idea of what he was signing up to when he hired him? surely.

Anyway, just glad that we got rid of Darren Dein once and for all. He is the biggest cunt of all.

Could be his nett weekly wage. They usually report it that way abroad and it often gets lost in translation.

True Capi, although the 'Ley Beckham' is either gone or on the way out so that's a pretty huge oversight if true. Football journalists are ludicrously lazy about figures …

Strangely I'm not phased that Song's gone.
Why do I get the impression that he may have been in some way stitched up by Dein?
I don't see him being anything more than a utility sub at Barca, poor move for him in terms of his long term future.
Could be one of those that just fades away.
