Well it is true...we can face them in the CL last 16 or quarters, Liverpool can't.
But it is more likely to be a financial issue. Liverpoool have spent £15m on Joe Allen - god knows how much they're willing to pay for Sahin. Our record signing is around £15m. Liverpool have spent £20m+ a few times.

If that's actually true look no further than Mourinho? May be simplistic thinking but fundamentally he's a nasty creature and he bears a grudge. Would not surprise me if this was personal against Wenger plus he has worked with Rodgers.
I wouldn't put it past Mourinho but I don't think he - or any other manager - has that kind of influence at Real Madrid. Meh, if Sahin kicks up enough of a fuss then he'll get what he wants.

Most of the Liverpool itk's have changed their tunes over the last 24 hours. Most journos saying it's at least 50:50, a lot saying we are his first choice.
