I didn't mean that the calamity would necessarily be Kos related.
I guess I am wary of this team when it comes to my expectations of them defending consistently

I think a lot of the good defending today has to do with our different approach. Lower defensive line, Arteta and Ramsey closer to the back four, more early long balls.

I'm not his biggest fan but he clearly should be starting for us, he's a much better player than Vermaelen.

there does seem to be flavour of the month vibe with our defenders - and players - in general. one month ramsey, mertesacker, and kos are the villains of the piece, then someone else will cock up and the 'spotlight o' shite' moves on.

having said that, i think kos is overall the least 'problematic' cb we have.

I've been saying that for ages Rex, fuck the high line fuck criticising defenders for not making raking pin point passes or driving runs into midfield, just do the basic simple things right like kicking and heading everything away from goal.

Koscielny seems to be much more of a big game player, unlike Vermaelen who seems to fuck up almost every time in the important games.

Don't know how you come to that conclusion - just another erratic defender. He's had plenty of howlers in big games

Normally his problem is performing like a 8 for 88 minutes of the match, but like a 2 for the rest. Haven't seen him be constantly bullied like Vermaelen.

I think he's brave enough he's just clueless as regards positioning and fancies himself as some sort of marauding box to box midfielder.

Centre backs are not like wingers who you can just chop and change every week, Koscienlys for all his faults was excellent last season and I think deserves a run in the team.

Cant believe after such a stellar season last year, there are people who still ain't convinced by him.

Every defender makes mistakes, somehow his is always magnified.

Every defender makes mistakes but Koscielny's are often collasal brain-farts which makes them stand out a little more.

Having said that, he is a much better defender than Vermaelen and should be starting every game when fit.
