Italy aren't a good team, but they have more brains that the Germans who seemed to go through all sorts of varying levels of emotion. Italy was more professional, and Balotelli happened to put them away.

That doesn't mean Italy are suddenly brilliant. They've been the best at nothing this entire tournament. This was the first team of note they actually beat (i.e. not on penos) and it'll be their last I'm sure. Fucking hate Spain, so I'll be hoping Pirlo lifts it, but I wouldn't take any of those Italians bar Mario at Arsenal.

People are being too harsh on Loew - Italy played an absolute blinder. Their defense + Buffon stopped everything, the midfield controlled the game and Balotelli took his chances when the times came. Second half it looked like the Germans just accepted defeat which was poor form - Italy could have waltzed away with a 4 or 5-0 win and probably should have.

That said, their attack works better with Klose, but I can understand why he chose Gomez. He probably had their midfield would compete better (and really they should have) and supply enough passes for him in the box.

Look forward to the final as well. The game between Italy and Spain at the group stages was an excellent game IMO, and a great tactical display.

Italians played really well. Brilliant discipline and counter attacking the Germans had no answers to. Schweinsteiger looked still unfit to me. Kroos was so and so. He's got a good shot on him, but was too trigger happy today. Reus should have started the match yet it's easy to say in hindsight. At least Low didn't wait until the 70th minute and made the change for the start of the 2nd half.

Disappointed a little bit. There was a power outage where my cousin lives. Told him it finished 3-2 to Germany. 😆

Barzagli showed part of the reason why Juventus went through Serie A unbeaten. He doesn't get a lot of attention outside Italy but you'd be hard pressed to find a better defender in Europe at the moment. It speaks volumes that Prandelli still included him in the squad even though the initial injury prognosis predicted that he'd miss the first four games of the tournament.

All of Buffon, Pirlo, Barzagli/Chiellini, Marchisio, Di Natale, De Rossi, and Cassano would walk into an Arsenal starting XI. That's just off the top of my head.

Your analysis is off.

Italy are obviously a good team. Sure, many of their players might not adapt to the Premier League but we wouldn't really know for sure as they don't play here.

Podolski was poor but he's not a natural winger so it's somewhat understandable. It will be interesting to see how we accommodate him, maybe Wenger will play him slightly closer to the main striker rather than a pure winger. I can't see him adding a lot to the team if he's played on the wing.

Well it depends who he's playing with. You could see RVP bringing him into play alot more than Gomez or Klose but not really more than Giroud. Although we tend to hit the winger earlier now anyway so maybe he'll see more of the ball regardless of the CF.
