we could've used a world class LB the last 7 yrs - would've added some much needed stability defensively instead of the shambles that was clichy and gibbs. he also would've added a lot more going forward as well - that left side wouldn't have deteriorated so quickly to whatever it is now. i've hardly seen a combination played down that side in years.

the margins are so small at the top - i think playing guys like almunia, clichy, denilson and eboue as much we did definitely cost us a trophy or two over the last 7 yrs.

but yea, he's a shallow, pitiful human being. feel like being at chelsea allowed that side of him to come out more.

He's a d*ck but he's a fantastic LB, we really should of just paid him what he wanted. In hindsight Gallas and 5m was a disgusting deal.

Clichy's not on the same level as Cole but he was competent enough. Don't think he fits in the same bracket as Almunia, Denilson and Eboue.

For instance, we could have definitely won the title with Clichy in the line up assuming the rest of the squad were up to par.

Anyway, there aren't too many world class left backs around and we were always going to struggle, don't think Cole would have changed much.

Cole, Pires and Henry was the best left side of a team I have ever seen. He didn't want to be here due to the lack of English players however if we forced him to stay I think we would have won a major trophy.

Having said that he is world class but there are a few more who could do exactly the sames gio abidal to name a few. I also think santos is better going forward.
