I fail to see just how Pirlo influenced the game that much. It was nil nil and they had shed loads of possession.

I've seen plenty of better midfield performances than that

It was no masterclass but all of Italy's play went through him and nothing was done about it.

Give beckham that amount of space and time on the ball n he'd shit n piss all over that performance. As would scholes

Maybe Beckham or Scholes should play for England then if they are that good? You should give Hodgson a call Tools and tell him! 🙂

Was it a masterclass in your opinion?

Nah. As Dules points out, England didn't really put any pressure on him all night, and he DID walk away with 0 goals and 0 assists. That throughball to Balotelli was mint though. As was the ball over the top that De Rossi, I think, headed back in front of goal where Balotelli arrived just a fraction late.

Still, he has been the best player in the tournament so far, just ahead of Özil and Iniesta IMO.

I think schweinsteiger as been better too.

Capi for me a master class has the lot. Craft, influence, inspirational, and determined. Over the years I've seen master classes from beckham, scholes, effenberg, Keane, seedorf, amongst others

Khedira has been very good and despite the team's results, Sneijder was excellent this tournament. Modric was superb and Moutinho has been good as well.

Twitchy showing off his knowledge again. Wilshere is nothing like Pirlo, you muppet.

No, he's not, but the point about keeping possession, skills is actually very true - and Jack is indeed relevant there. So if this was a direct comparison - you're right, but as for the importance to the team, the type of players and skills England needs, he's absolutely right. England just couldn't play, and if they can't improve that, the future will be just as gray.

"Why hasn't Pirlo ever played in England? Is it because he's homophobic or something?"

:lol
What an eegit.

schweinsteiger? think he's been fairly average so far. decent start, but has faded.

Pirlo has been the best CM this tournament for me, undoubtedly. Agreed that Modric, Sneijder and Khedira have been awesome too. Iniesta I consider a forward in this Spanish team even if he plays a bit everywhere.

Veloso was the worst player on the pitch in the quarters. Looked really nervous.

My team o' tha ternament as lawro would say...

------------zlatan
Ronaldo--------fabregas
-------iniesta---xavi
-----------alonso
Lahm-lescott-pepe-Johnson
---------Buffon

--------------------Buffon
Gebre Selassie-De Rossi-Ramos-Lahm
--------------Khedira--Pirlo
Iniesta-------------Özil--------Ronaldo
-----------------Ibrahimovic

My team of the tournament so far. Also taking into some consideration where they are actually playing... 🙂

Typical Rex to play Buffon at point, Ibrahimovic in goal and Özil as sweeper. What a contrarian.

😆
Admit that you agree with my team instead Klaus...
