I think the thinking is that the British players will stick together as a group as opposed to management relying completely on their loyalty to the club itself?

Get Theo into form for us or at least lift his price for his January sale (although I don't seen an obvious home). All this United/Chelsea talk is garbage. For Chelsea, he'd be replacing Sturridge who gets no game time behind the likes of Torres, Moses, and the three artists. At United, it's even worse. Theo is not displacing RvP or Valencia, while there's also Young, Kagawa, Rooney, Welbeck and Cheetos (and Nani) to be rotated.
So... Liverpool?

They don't play with 2 central strikers, so he'd probably sit on the bench or play wide there too.

He's on course of his first 20+ season in terms of goals scored. Would be a brilliant time to lose him...

I think we are playing hardball, fully aware that he has no options.
That he has no options should also be warning to him that he is not quite the top tier striker he or others might want to think he is.

Funny thing is if the true reason he is stalling on an extention is his desire to play as a striker, the best opportunity he has at a top club is here.

Personally don't think Theo is the cf we should be aspiring to lead our line. Good option to have in the team though.

If it's the case he is so desperate to play striker, I'm amazed. He's been so good with both van Persie and Giroud as a right winger. Why would he want to ruin that?

We're not really in a position to play hardball.

He probably feels like he's one of our star players and as such, needs to be paid accordingly.

Don't really see the point in selling him in January. Will we get enough money to make it worthwhile? Doubt it.
