If we don't sign him by Xmas, we should sell him this January. I'm tired of this story, and it doesn't help the squad for our high profile players to constantly be in trade speculation. I wish I could kick Turnip as far as the eye can see.

I understand what Lagos is saying as most managers rule with an iron fist and are usually vindictive.
However Wenger is not like most managers and seems more forgiving towards his players. This is just my personal opinion btw!

What worries me is in the unlikely event we sign him, his level will drop.
Looks like he's playing with a point to prove right now, and if he signs, I wonder if he'll work as hard or just get comfortable.
But I guess we'll find out. Or more likely, not.

That doesn't make sense. Why would he first convince him to sign a new contract in that case, when it's easier to just chuck him out the door in two weeks?

Theo has, so far, been professional and done all that has been asked of him without sulking or running the club down in the press so there is no reason for Wenger to punish him if he eventually signs.

Think it's definitely worth a shot playing him up top. Hopefully that, coupled with a wage bump will do it. Does Theo really want the Nasri/Robin treatment? I don't think so. He is English, and I think that'd affect him more. Can't see him going to different country either.

i tend to agree. wenger is not averse to freezing players out if they don't tow the line, rightly or wrongly.

That's a fair point. The best he's played IMO since he joined are :

this season : Playing for contract
2010/2011 season : Pissed off at being left out of the world cup and probably wanted to prove the manager(and everyone) wrong.

I think he plays well when he's got something to prove. However, his form this season could be as a consequence of his improvement as a player. We just have to wait and see.

He's coming good. As much as I'd like to deny it, as much as I've hated every second of watching him play in certain games in the past, he finally, finally looks a proper footballer.

We should just focus on Giroud and Cazorla and hope they can get us through the season.

It's just so depressing.

Didn't get that far, but I was sure he's gone, and I'm not sure of that at all now. I also think the reason for that is same process with Theo himself: I think he was out, and now he's in doubts. Think the boss did enough to make him think again, but I'm unsure where it will go.

If it get's to January ,though, it won't look good. Once he starts actually being offered different things - it's hard.
Hope it's settled, He's come a long way as a player.

He knows who's interested and what they'll offer already. He must do. Fact he's still talking to us suggests that he would like to stay if we give him an acceptable offer. RVP and Nasri weren't even negotiating with us in their last seasons.
