My personal dislike is more with his disrespectful comments after he left rather than leaving. Also I guess it was frustration that we had to put up with mediocre performances from him for much of his time here, as soon as his performances improved he wanted bigger and better things, similar to what Hleb did a few years earlier. Also similar to RvP because we had to deal with the injury prone striker, once he got over that then he didn't hesitate one bit before wanting out. Most fans don't hate Cesc but what he did was pretty bad as well by going on strike and demanding that he be sold only to Barca.
I think by selling Adebayor and Toure to Man City we left ourselves open to this. There was a time when clubs knew they would have to break every rule in the book to take one of our players and that we would put them through hell before we let them go. Once clubs knew we were open to selling them, the players agents get talking and it is only a matter of negotiating a price. If players knew we would happily make them run their contracts down and refuse to sell em they would be less likely to do what the likes of Theo is doing now. We are in a crap position due to our squad being so poor but if we had balls we would stick him in the reserves, players would be scared to pull this kind of shit then. Though times have changed so I doubt us or any club would do that. Rooney dicked Man Utd but they got that problem resolved and got him to apologise and take his comments back. I think the players don't have faith in the manager or board right now and that is why we struggle to hold onto our players.
