I think some get too caught up in the fact that Theo sometimes leaves the ball behind while running with it to recognise how much he actually contributes to the side.

Thats a useless stat, because its more to do with the form of the player, look at his stats over a whole season and the team he plays for, and the type of things he can do on a football pitch. Having said that we should be doing everything to keep theo. Why not get ben arfa and theo in the same team. TBH i would prefer jovetic if your going to be spending 20m

I would compare to a full season but he's barely had one.

Anyway, I know for a fact that you'll be hard pressed to find any player that can significantly improve on Theo's contribution. You might find a few more who look more fancy doing less though.

Theo could well reach up to 20 goals this season, that merits doing everything to get him to sign a new contract.

The point isnt whether we are going to miss or replace him, it is that after 7 years of persisting, paying his medical and wage bills to see him finally give a return on that investment only for him to walk out on a free. And if we were to sign him then it would give a morale boost and change the mentality of players leaving in the past few years, and he is great for the new english core we have at the club now.

You cant deny he makes things happen and scores and assists a lot of goals and is well on his way already this season to hitting 15-20 goals from a wide position, that is talent we need to keep.

They're not bullshit when it comes to forwards and goals and assists, they're cold hard facts about contribution, hence why the better the player generally the better stats they have. So I'd rather keep the player who, however inconsistent he may be, seems like he'll at the very least contribute to 20 league goals or so each season.

Both those statements seem to indicate that you don't recognise one of the main flaws at the club in recent seasons, which is that we spend all our time replacing players rather than providing competition for them.

What the 'club' want's to do is as relevant to my opinion as my opinion is to the actions of the board. Otherwise I'd just be sitting here and saying job well done.

Well, He isn't, but that's a moot point - you improve the squad by replacing at the bottom, not the top.

The stats are useless in this context. You might as well quote Denilson's passing stats to argue that he is a great player.

I rate Theo, but as a player to player comparison Ben Arfa is far far ahead. Just take a look at last night's MOTD highlights for Newcastle, in the 30th min that pass from Ben Arfa, can Theo do that? in the 33rd min that run and shot from Ben Arfa. Can Theo do that?

Ben Arfa is literally the only creative attacking player in the entire Newcastle squad. He is forced to do things singlehandedly to feed Ba. Its the same situation with Suarez. I seriously don't understand it when people say Walcott is better than Suarez and Ben Arfa.

As a winger, Ben Arfa is light years ahead of Walcott. As a striker, we can't compare.

Sure, there are things he can do that Walcott can't do, but the reverse is true as well.

Walcott is miles better than Ben Arfa. He's not as elegant, and doesn't have the same level of technique, or passing game (or anything like it), it in terms of ability to help his team score goals by getting himself & the ball into dangerous situations? Not even close.

The whole thing is ridiculous. We have a player here who assists and scores more goals combined than virtually any other winger in the league and has done for a couple of seasons now. As much as people don't like him because he is often frustrating that is fact. It might not look pretty sometimes but there is guaranteed end product. He is also the main reason our new 12 million pound centre forward is starting to bang the goals in. He is also very much a big game player and I struggle to think of a player I'd rather have in a NLD or against the likes of Chelsea etc.

There is no way that replacing him with someone who will offer a similar return will cost less than we get for him in transfer fee or less than his wage demand. All we will do is replace him with Gnabry and Gazidis will get another bonus and wage increase for increasing the transfer profit and cutting down the wage bill. There is no planet on which letting Walcott leave is a logical or positive decision.
