How many managers are they going to find that will cover for them though? We aren't going to be hiring the likes of Mourinho or Guardiola on the understanding that they're not allowed to agitate for signings.

After a few years being managed by the Ian Dowies and Chris Hughtons of this world, I reckon the game might well and truly be up for this board!

Firstly wenger doesn't even want to spend so he is the perfect manager for someone like kroenke, any other manager would have made much more of a fuss if there was such strict financial constraints at a club meant to be challenging for a trophy and even that is debatable. Even now we don't know who is at fault for the low transfer fees we pay wenger or the board, IMO they are proud that they have managed to save so many penny's here and there even if it has meant we are in the shithole we are in now.

The point is under Kroenke and the current board nothing will change except perhaps a continuation of the current slide.

The club are supposedly quite generous to Wenger in terms of pay. Sure they'll have to play the same game as Wenger; minimal spend, finish 4th - but there are other managers around that might put up with that for a nice, lucrative 2 year spell in London. Besides the expectations would be low enough that their reputation would remain intact. The job security at Man City, Chelsea etc. is non-existent if you fail to win the league/CL.

There's a whole spectrum of managers in between Wenger and "the ian dowies". Many of them (pretty much the majority), including the better ones operate perfectly well within the constraints of their clubs budget/ boards demands.

I don't think there are many that would tolerate their bosses telling the fans that there's money to spend every transfer window, then refusing to give it to them.

Just give me Moyes or Klopp already. I'm sick of Wenger.
I heard on The Game a few months ago that there was an analysis that showed that Moyes did the best in the Premier League given the money at his disposal. The biggest argument against him around here tends to be that he will not attract top class players (but if things are to believed, we don't even have the money to get those players in the first place).

Nothing wrong with Moyes, I'd take him when Wenger goes but he wouldn't be my first choice.

Suspect Capi would go for Lucien Favre or someone similar. Easy transition, clever management, good at working within a budget.

Wenger still has a big name and has big pull in the French leagues. The trouble is, they're garbage players these days. The one worth getting went to Chelsea. Need someone with a big name in Germany if that's where the talent is.

I'm not sure you understood correctly. I think Klaus is saying - all else being equal, Wenger has a bigger pull than Arsenal FC.

Don't know what to make of that. Since top players' decisions seem to be motivated by a combination of on-pitch success (which, in the modern game, is more transparently driven by money) and big salaries, I would guess the manager and traditions of the club are both limited in the decision-making process.

I understood that but i think Wenger's standing has taken more of a tumble than Arsenals albeit from a higher plane so much so that even Arsenal fans are questioning his coaching abilities. On the other hand, international players like Per and Podolski joined us because they considered Arsenal to be a big club.
