The biggest issue is on the pitch, their players havent performed for over a year to any consistant standard and the off field problems should be no excuse for that. Torres and Gerrard are struggling for form and that was always likely to reveal Liverpool as a second rate side nowadays. Mascherano and Alonso gave them a solid platform to compete but that axis has been devastated now.

Does anyone else think Hodgeson looks genuinly unwell and on the brink of a nervous breakdown since his Liverpool move?

Forcing Alonso out was the most bizarre move ever. I still wish we snapped him up.

To be honest, Hodgson has always looked that way to me Jon.

Feel sorry for Roy. Doesn't seem to have had much choice as far as ins/outs are concerned. Rumours are that the players that are there aren't behind him either plus unstable ownership situation; he hasn't got a stable platform to do anything.

I don't feel too sorry for him. He knew he was walking into a mess and set up his contract so that when he gets sacked, he'll still get paid.

He needs at least around 30 points by Christmas to stand a chance, you'd think, otherwise they will be bringing in a new broom.

I've been reading a bit of 'ITK'ish stuff on another forum; the line of thinking is that Carragher has too much power at the club and helped push Benitez out to preserve his place in the team. His freshly signed 2 year deal doesn't do much dispel the rumour!

... apparently, Carragher isn't a big fan of Torres either.

Liverpool aren't going to make it to the top half of the table. They've lost a lot of industry with Kuyt's injury, and have a lot of nonsense all over the field (led by Glen Johnson). Benitez bought very badly and Hodgson did not have a great first summer either. Makes me happy to see them suffer. Their fans always get in my face about us not having won in Europe. These days I remind the little buggers that Nottingham Forest also won European titles....
