Afternoon all!

Know we have a nice spread of people from Europe - how is the Euros hype where you are? In London it doesn't seem to be too great. Much bigger fuss over the Queen's jubilee (although I guess that was mainly because people got days off work!). With the expectations of England being at their lowest I think only the real football fans are interested as opposed to the whole nation being behind the team. Hopefully when it kicks off tomorrow there will be a bigger interest.

I live in a rugby town, so it's never really that great and most of my friends only have a passing interest in football although they will certainly tune in for France's matches and the final.

A small group of protesters targeted the Dutch team's training ground in the southern Polish city of Krakow, a senior UEFA official confirmed on Thursday, but denied the demonstrations were racist.
Dutch newspaper De Telegraaf had said that a handfu of the 25,000 fans who turned up to watch the Oranje train had made monkey noises at the side's black players during the warm-up. UEFA, which has a zero tolerance policy on racism at football grounds, said it had spoken to the Dutch squad and they said they had not seen or heard anything of a racist nature, the official told AFP.
But the official confirmed that some Polish supporters were unhappy at European football's governing body for not making Krakow one of the four Polish host cities for the tournament and made themselves heard.

Haven't seen any official statement from the Dutch.

Truth is; football sucks right now. No players of any personality, robotic styles of play, tournaments in undeserving countries and a disconnect between the fans and players that widens year upon year and the list goes on and on. Especially when it comes to internationals.

It is dead as a spectacle but as a hobby, it isn't too bad.

I'm in France at the moment and nobody apart from a taxi driver that I spoke to the other day seems remotely interested.
Bizarre seeing as this French team is decent, then again not so bizarre when you consider the disgrace they heaped upon themselves in the last WC.

In Ireland, on the other, hand the build_up is big - think people are just waiting for an excuse to gather in droves and go mad.
Lots of worrying about Shay Given's blisters.
Non stop rubbish songs and lads reminiscing about the 90s.
Anything to avoid talk of recession depression and crisis.

How this happens to be I'm not so sure, they definitely had some good luck away to Russia in the qualifiers.
Actually I'm just hoping we don't get trounced by anyone, especially not Spain.
