Adem Ljajic 'eyed by Arsenal for summer transfer'
Fiorentina star Adem Ljajic is being watched by Arsenal as Arsene Wenger finalises his summer transfer plans, according to reports in Italy.
The 20-year-old is one of the rising stars of Serbia's national team, and his age and technical ability match the profile of player the Gunners boss likes to bring to the club.
He can play either as an advanced central midfielder or on the wing, and could arrive as a direct replacement for Yossi Benayoun, if Wenger decides against offering the on-loan Chelsea man a permanent deal.
Ljajic was close to being given the opportunity to showcase his creative talents in the Premier League in 2010.
Manchester United negotiated an option to sign him while he was still at Partizan Belgrade, but pulled out of the deal after being unable to secure a work permit for him.
He instead joined Fiorentina in a £6.5million move and although he has struggled to hold down a regular place in the Viola's starting line-up, it seems the youngster has shown enough moments of promise to interest Arsenal's scouts.
Would love it if we could nick him. He hasn't been given the best environment to develop properly in at Fiorentina but he's one of those players who oozes intelligence when you watch them play. Looks like a typical Arsenal player.
