i really dont think dempsey is better than walcott, and i dont think walcott is amazing, either. dempsey's just hit his prime and has taken more responsibility this season, but it's easier to stand out in an avg team (think andy johnson, james beattie, the list goes on and on). he's a good player like walcott or gervinho, but he's not the guy that's going to put us over the top when we play madrid or barca, and i don't see wenger relegating walcott and gervinho to 4th and 5th choice at forward.

it would be a pointless signing. more of the same doesn't make you better.

think about it, you're proposing to have podolski, dempsey, walcott, gervinho and chamberlain as wide options. that's ridiculous, how many guys do you need? it's just as absurd as having vermaelen, koscielny, vertonghen, mertesacker and djourou. man city isn't even that deep, and you prob couldn't even manage that in FM.

Heh. Yea, its ridiculous alright. But who knows? Maybe all this "financial stability" will result in exactly that list of players. No better, no worse. That squad plus 3-4 players really stepping it up and putting in some world class performances at the right times can win you a cup if not the league.

I dont think it is that ridiculous given the fact that Podolski & Dempsey can play in different positions, United have 5 strikers. if a player is unhappy that he hasnt had enough games at the end of the season then so be it. Given our injury luck we would probably constantly have 1-2 of those players out at any one time.

I'd rather have some else than Dempsey though.

if we dump Shava, Bendy and Chamakh, then loan out Chambo for regular games, we've got plenty of room for Podolski and Dempsey.

even without loaning out Chambo, if you assume that Chamakh, Arshavin, Park and Benayoun go, then for the front 4 positions you have
Podolski, Walcott, RVP, Gervinho, Rosicky, Chamberlain, Dempsey

That's not actually a lot of players for 3 positions. It's about enough to get you through the season.

Dempsey has been Fulham's best player for at least four years to be fair to him.

We'll bring Ryo, Afobe and Campbell back for pre-season and sign Podolski. Wont be any more attacking additions unless someone leaves. And, imo, along with Wilshere getting fit amd Chambo's natural improvement, that will be more than enough attacking talent to mount a title challenge.

Ryo, Afobe and Campbell can only be 'extras' at this point. If one of them takes off, then that's an enormous bonus, but Wenger cannot assume that we are better off bringing those 3 in than snapping up Dempsey.
You know what Dempsey is? He's Dirk Kuyt with goals. Our full backs, midfield and van Persie will love playing next to him.

Even with the season Dempsey's had I don't think he is better than Walcott, Gervinho, Podolski or Chambo on the wings. It looks to me like he's a big fish in a small pond rather than a top player who would help us challenge. I'd rather keep Ryo for depth on the wings than splash the money on a player who won't improve our starting 11.

Think about it for a second; there is no way he would pass up the opportunities that some of our lads have been getting, specifically Theo and Gervinho. He would easily have 20 league goals now playing for us.

Tbf, I suspect almost everybody here will take a Suarez swap in a heartbeat if you only consider his skills and not him as a person.
