Basically, even if he were tortured, he would stay silent on this.

He must be well annoyed that those associated with Montpellier are happy to blab about it.

I'm not doing cartwheels at the prospect of this happening, but I really haven't seen very much of him. I am happy we're adding a big, strong striker to the squad - I lost count the number of times I watched Robin get manhandled by 2 big centrebacks last season, and us struggle to get a foothold in the game, especially away from home, as a result. I think ever team needs a big bruiser to stick up front when it's needed.

The more good footballers we can have throughout the squad the better, that's all I care about. I'm not turning my nose at up at anyone that can improve the squad and give us something different.

Any possiblity of van Persie operating behind this guy? Or is he purely back up?

Either way add M'Vila and hold on to Robin and this will be the best summer we've had in a while.

Ricky, this guy is quite brilliant. He is strong, intelligent, has a good shot and hold up play superbly. You will love him. He is what Andy Carroll promised to be. Just take a look at his recent french games.

Already having friendships within our squad should help - just as I hope it helps Podolski.

Being signed so early should help too. It certainly took a while after deadline day last year for us to find the balance and for players to bed into the team.

From all indications he isn't here to replace RvP.

This guy makes me want to move to a 4-4-1-1. We'r always going to have defensive problems, but in the 4-3-3 the wide forwards can be too peripheral, so this permits us to be more purposeful in attack. Robin was too isolated far too much of last season.

Let Giroud take the kicks and pull the CBs apart, and have Robin work the space behind him. Podolski would have to learn how to play wide left though, or else become a bench player for one of the 2 forwards.

Agreed spaceman. I am thinking of 442 or 4411 as well. Podolski or RVP would be good in a 2man striking role.

Having the option of switching our formation when needed would be perfect. Just because we sign one player doesn't mean we're permanently switching our playing strategy. We could play 4-4-2 in some games and 4-3-3 in others.

Good to hear, mate. Like I said, I haven't seen much of him, but wasn't bowled over. Must have caught him on a couple of off days. Great to have a proper targetman at the club again.

All based on one season of football Clrnc? It's hardly conclusive.

What little I've seen of him looks good but my concern is how unproven he is (and that he's not good enough to replace a departing VP).

These are the sort of players we have to go for though, we don't have the luxury to wait till a player has proven himself comprehensively before we decide to sign him because by then half of Europe will be in for him.

Of course I don't think he should replace RvP but that's far from decided right now.

Giroud will be to replace Chamakh and not Robin.
Hope he plays a part today, he's looked very useful as a sub in the two friendlies that I saw him play.

Hate it when loads of sources say that a transfer is a done deal then it all goes quiet for a few days/weeks, especially when it's quite an exciting signing. Never put it beyond Arsenal to fuck it all up at the last minute.
