Fuk, it ridiculous here. A lot of price fixing goes on between the carriers. You can get 2GB at about 1mbps for 12 pounds but you have to sign a 24 month contract with the carrier and they fuk you if you end up using over 2gb. The S3 got released yesterday and comes with 250mb of data a month.... the user just gets charged a ridiculous amount when they start going over the 250mb...
Internet at varsity is world class though , we get free uncapped/unmonitored 10mbps speeds. Adsl uncapped prices have also come down over the last couple of years. You can get an uncapped 4mbps line for 60 pounds which is 4 times less than what it was 3 years ago. For all the bragging South Africa does, prices are way cheaper in many other African countries. Many companies have a stranglehold on the telecommunications sector and the government doesnt seem to give a toss about it.
