Not sure I should, he's the forum's eternal baby poster think it's fair to expect him to be a little more tech savvy.

Didn't even mention that of course you can use your fingerprint to do mobile payment, this what happens when you use Apple even for a short while your brain deteriorates and you can't do even simple tasks.

Most Norwegian websites and transportation apps etc. use the same app for mobile payment. This app doesn't seem to have fingerprint integration while it does have integration for Apple's FaceID. I love that there's an Android app for pretty much everything, but I wish developers of the most commonly used apps would cater more to Android users as well. Same as Spotify where they somehow haven't added "swipe to queue" feature on Android yet. [cut to Jones saying that his impeccable ears would literally barf and then explode if someone so much as whispered the word Spotify]

I don't really like the feel of a glass protector, but it's a job phone and I'd feel kind of stupid if I had to have them fix my broken screen because I didn't want to use the protector literally everyone got with their phone. My brother has cracked two screens in the last couple of years so it's not like they've become unbreakable yet.

You can get a phone casing. That will ensure you glass won't crack even if you drop your phone.

Jones' impeccable ears don't have to use trash like Spotify because I have my music either on my phone or I can use other apps which don't cost money when you want an ad free version.

On a serious note - anyone who hasn't installed YouTube Vanced on their Android phone is seriously missing out, literally the first app I install on every phone I set up. Allows you to a) shut down the screen and keep the audio running, b) no ads whatsoever and c) you can use YouTube Music for free which I would never in a million years pay for but is a surprisingly decent streaming platform and has a lot more music than Apple or Spotify.

Second this, Vanced is brilliant. If I have to watch two ads before a video I'll more likely just not watch it.

I got a pixel 6 Pro and sold it within 2 weeks. Awful phone full of bugs.

Went back to my 2 year old one plus which is still better. Got myself a Samsung s22+ thereafter and its night and day. Samsung is still the leading android phone tbh

Look for Vanced AyraProject if you don't have it installed yet. Of course if Google messes with the API that's gone immediately but the makers of the APK assume it'll work for two more years.

Had the ROG Phone 5 for the last nine or so months which was almost perfect, battery for days and brilliant screen could handle everything but the photos weren't all that.

Switched to the Sony Xperia Pro-I which bar the eye watering price seems like the first flawless phone I've had since the Note4 back in the day, finally get to use my SD card again and the camera is ridiculous. Will take some time to get into photography as it's no point and shoot device like any other but the results are breathtaking

That Xperia looks like a beast. I'd love to try it but it's so expensive and my photography keenness wouldn't be able to justify it.

I'm always looking at the 1 and 5 series but also too pricey for the length of software support Sony commits to.

I always end up going with a Pixel due to the fast shutter speed and "point and shoot" quality of their cameras, as well as the instant Android updates and monthly security patches. Android 12 is pretty darn shitty though.

@[deleted] yeah I've read a lot of criticism about the 6 Pro but I haven't really had any issues, apart from the size of this thing. It's so I comfortable to use with one hand and it's super heavy. Oh, the fingerprint reader is pretty rubbish as well I guess.

Yeah you have to really be into photography to make use of it. I recently picked up an interest but knowing myself I have little time and most of the time I couldn't be bothered to take a full on camera with me, so I got this instead. Got a little tripod too so I can fully use long exposure pictures (like for waterfalls or street lights) for this type of effect

Still definitely very much a niche product, for point and shoot cameras you'd better pick one where the photo software does the heavy lifting, ie Pixels or iPhones. I probably wouldn't even have considered it in the beginning if it weren't the only flagship phone released after 2020 that has both 3.5mm jack and an SD card which are both vital to me. Will never forgive Apple for starting the trend to ditch the jack.

The Xperia Pro-I is insane, but it won't sell well because it is designed for photo experts. It's literally almost a professional camera in a phone. And you can save Raw images and edit it, which like what jones said has insane results. Xperia phones always don't sell well because of its boxy design and also its naming convention. Far too confusing for many.

I had a lot of problems with pixel. Some apps don't work well, it is not as userfriendly as oxygen OS and One UI IMO and other than the primitive fingerprint censor, the connectivity has problems too as reported by many. Apparently it has undergone a few upgrades since but even then MKBHD just reviewed it and says its still not up to par.

Yeah Sony really didn't put in a lot of thought into the names.

Their renamed flagship in 2019 was the Xperia 1, 2020's version is called Xperia 1 II (pronounced Xperia One Mark Two). Then they upgraded that version with just a micro HDMI port and more than doubled the price for it, calling it Xperia Pro. Then the next "normal" flagship Xperia 1 III (Mark three) and now the Xperia Pro-I (that's not a Roman numeral one but an "i" for imaging) 😆 Rambo levels of bad

Got it for less than half the price otherwise I wouldn't have considered it either. 1800 quid for a phone is heinous
