Best smart phone?

Can anyone recommend a smart phone? Whats the general thinking on the iphone v blackberry v android debate?

blackberry will be out of business in 1-2 years. imo, best phone is b/w iphone and nokia lumia 900.

I've got a Nexus S—does everything I need, but Android Ice Cream Sandwich is still a bit broken. Should be upgrading to a new model (possibly a Galaxy S2) shortly.

I do a very little bit of Android development on the side which is why I prefer them to iPhones. However, some things definitely are better (eg native Google apps) and some things are definitely worse (eg lack of a decent Droid alternative to Instagram).

I too prefer Android. I have an HTC Desire HD which I am very happy with, but I believe most with enough knowledge agree that the Samsung Galaxy S2 is the best phone on the market currently.

:o That sounds almost scary! All of a sudden the 1 year I have left on my contract seems an eternity. Roughly 1 year from now I can quite confidently say that one of those HTCs will be mine. 🙂

Love the clarity and colour of the ameloid screen.

Depends what you use it for. For work, definitely BB. For pretending to be cool, iPhone or something else with an infuriating touch screen.

Thing about iphone is that the touch screen isn't infuriating at all; everything works perfectly. Literally no fuss, doesn't hang, no input lag. It's so simple that my 18 month old niece can use one. I don't own one because I prefer the customization provided by android but the iphone (and ipad) is an amazing piece of kit.

Bought the Samsung Galaxy Ace not too long ago (a steal price wise).

It's a clone of the iPhone. It's also my first smart phone and have to say I'm happy with it. The battery is a bit poo if you use it heavily, but as I'm not a huge phone person it lasts me 3-4 days usually.

Not too worried about that article. New shit comes out all the time. I'll be using this one until the day it doesn't work properly any more. Just like my last one.

Depends what your budget is Lukazon. I would say Iphone or Galaxy S2 but as Captain posted earlier, big changes taking place with the android devices so its probably worth waiting till the newer models get released. BB are on the way down, they are only doing well in countries where mobile data is expensive. If you are on a limited budget there are lots android phones that are very well priced, just try get one which is due the ICS update.

New HTCs should be released in two weeks but Samsung haven't announced anything. Think sony have a new line coming at the end of april but their phones always have at least two big flaws in my experience.

i don't mess with contracts. as long as it's an unlocked GSM android phone that can operate on t-mobile's hspa+ network i'm down.

these days i'm using a T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S II. went with the t-mobile version because it's built specifically for their 42mpbs hspa+ network (most are generally the 21mbps version).

Who needs smart phones? Just get one of those old school indestructible Nokia's and you're set for life.

Seriously though, i think an Android phone is the way to go. I'm a fan of HTC's and Samsung's but i haven't been following them lately. I don't like iPhone's and their stupid monopolies and useless 'updates'. They're starting to hit a brick wall in terms of innovation. The new Blackberry phones coming out soon seem to be pretty good. They're primarily business phones though.

You could always go with some stupid windows phone if you want. I'm hearing Microsoft will be buying out Blackberry in the new 1-2 years so that should be interesting.
