Tam Mike, his name is. Saw him being spoken about fairly recently as he’s on the stadium fan artwork that’s yet to be hung. Apparently he moved up north so rarely seen these days. Some of us know the feeling.

Chanced upon this match. Football was so much fun those days, high pace, less tactical and still plenty of quality. Really not sure how such a bad keeper kept in goal for us for so many years.

Qwiss that was the line wasn't it? Seem to remember he played a more offensive role at his previous club (Porto?) and then SAF converted him to a holding midfielder.

Not as good as converting Alan Smith to a CM...

He was a huge talent back then, glad it never came close to turning out well. The "Golden Boy" award had a good track record at the time, with Rooney, Messi, Fabregas and Aguero winning in 2004-07 and then Anderson in 2008.

QuincyAbeyie these days the awards last five winners are only Mbappe, Felix, De Ligt, Gavi and Pedri. 🙂

Claudius Gavi's should've probably gone to Bellingham or even Musiala, although Gavi's great as well. Point being, the award doesn't have quite the same shine after quite a few winners after Aguero having underwhelming developments.

Some of the football we played that season was breath taking. We were so unclinical (Eduardo aside) and missed a crazy number of chances. Probably also hit the post a record amout of times that season, but we saw a team with potential for greatness that year. Shame we lost so many players afterwards and didn't push on with replacements.

Eduardo was on his way to becoming a top 5 striker in Europe for about three months before you know what happened.

We had something truly special in Fabregas. He was just unreal 06-08, before he moved further forward. Completely controlling midfield week in week out.

He could have been a real top player with a different attitude. Always sort of liked Bendtner.. when he wasn't saving shots off the line for the opposition in CL KO ties.

Such a unique footballer. Not seen another player like him since, think it was down to being two footed and the gymnast background. Crazy agility. Touch was like superglue too.
