I took the morning off work to watch the 2nd leg and had to settle for a dodgy stream that didn't really work so ended watching most of it in basically a series of still pictures.

I remember I had recorded the match and was flying back overnight. Made sure to avoid papers etc. Then I'm in transit in fucking Frankfurt, and my eye catches a TV screen with the banner saying something like "Arsenal shockt" or something and while I looked away, I got home and watched the match. Deep down I knew we'd come back. So not the same feeling of elation I would have had otherwise.

I used to love rewactching key moments from that game. Chills is exactly the right word. I still remember the build up on here with Asa and a few others claiming they were not remotely excited about the game and didn't care and yet everyone was giddy at full time. It's hard to explain to noon-Arsenal fans why the first leg from a tie we eneded up losing will live in the memory so long. The atmosphere was incredible.

Klaus summed it up perfectly though, mild discomfort perfectly sums up how I felt when I saw it this morning, I simply can't freely celebrate anything good those guys did for us.

I nearly died watching the last 10 minutes at the Emirates. Barca could and probably should have scored 15 times in those remaining minutes - what a team they were! The atmosphere that night was truly something special. Not just by Arsenal standards either, but anywhere.

Arshavin's goal is up there with my favourite moments watching Arsenal live, but I think actually Fabregas' goal straight from kick-off against Tottenham, whilst we were still celebrating a van Persie goal, just edges it. How can I not have fond memories of that little Spaniard when he gave me a moment like that? And so many others. I don't care for him now, neither van Persie, but I'll never forget the great they did when wearing the red and white.

It was magical. Still gives me chills to watch it now. And that celebration from Cesc! What a player he was back then. It seemed like he could do anything.

Special game indeed and bar van Persie I don't mind any of them. Nasri is a bit of an idiot and Fabregas made a poor choice but they're not trash like RVP

They'd also had a goal calked off with a dodgy offside. But we had plenty of chances ourselves.

We were daft not to pair him with Ozil. That was prime wenger ball waiting to happen. Cutting off our own noses.

Fabregas was close to being done at this level, would've come with a lot of baggage that transfer. Nasri moved to a nascent club paying shit loads of money while we were happy to sell him to balance the books. He's a moron but not nearly close to RVP

I can't understand anything negative about cesc. He was immense for us, he had chances to leave for bigger teams and choose to stay here when we were poor and he was flanked by denilsons, songs, diaby and eboue RM. If thats no the pimicle of dedication I don't know what is. Everyone else jumped a lot quicker. His role in keeping us a top 4 team was huge.

Yeah, he had half a great season at Chelsea before falling through the floor, and a lot of his flaws were covered for by Matic who was playing for two or three people in midfield. There are half a dozen PL midfielders perhaps who have equalled or bettered the class he held for a short spell there. He covered a lot of ground that Fabregas no longer could. We never had that kind of backing for him here and I think he would have ended up a super frustrating figure considering we were already compromised defensively. I also respect Wenger for not going soft and letting him come back.

His Chelsea career was pretty similar to Özil's Arsenal career, started brightly and then went off a cliff. They even had the same amount of assists in their one super season if I remember correctly. Of course Fabregas's issues probably weren't attitude related.

If Cesc didn't join Chelsea I'd have forgiven him by now, but seeing him sucking up to Chelsea fans (and vise versa) and Mourinho just makes my stomach turn.

Really? we chose not to sign him. What more could you possibly want. Is their a chance you're mad about that period of arsenal and cesc is just somewhere to project that anger?

Consider, If we had a midfield the caliber of cesc as in 4-5 player of his qauilty we'd have walked the league every year. And when he went back to his boyhood club. You'd probably see him in the vein ManU fans see Ronaldo a hero. Instead we surround him with cheap rubbish he stayed longer than anyone else and you hate him for it to the point it turns your stomach.

And I didn't say I hate him for leaving or even that I hate him, it turns my stomach because my favourite player by a country mile from that period, pretty much since he was 17, now strolls around saying he's can't choose between Chelsea and Arsenal, celebrates Chelsea's wins and and generally has a strong affinity for them and Mourinho. If you're comfortable with all that, good for you.

Of coarse i'm comfortbale with that, he played for them for years. How could he not have an affinity with them? As you've pointed out just watching a clip of him turns your stomach. If thats the love he's getting from arsenal fans it's a small wonder he likes us at all. Not having a go, I was just just trying to understand where you're coming from. I'm just always amazyed at how much football fans generally fill themselves with hate/ resentment. I just don't get it.

Well I don’t think I’m particularly amazing for vehemently disliking Chelsea but fair play if you’re above all that. Maybe you can get yourself a half and half shirt with Cesc on the back like those guys in Baku.
