One of Gervinho and Theo should be upfront even with three at the back. Mabe in a 3-5-2.

AC Milan have a history of bottling it in the CL. Some of the worse fuck ups in european football have come at the expense of Milan so i think it isn't as impossible as it seems. If we can rattle them in the opening 30 minutes, then i think they will start to panic. Atleast this time we can utilise the width which is their main weakness.

I just think it might be a bit too much change. 4-4-2 isn't that far removed from our normal system.

Get Chamberlain and Gervinho to go at them out wide with Theo and Robin through the middle. We'll cause them problems.

You have point but i think if theres anytime to take risks then its this time. 3 dedicated defenders at the back would help us deal with their counter attacks better and since Milan play with a very narrow system we could do with matching their numbers centrally without sacrificing an extra forward.

I had the same thought when I read it. Juventus, among others, have outmaneuvered Milan this season using a system like that. Not sure the tradeoff is good enough when the third defender is either Djourou or Squillaci, though. Maybe if Mertesacker were available.

Risking Robin on a lost cause would be madness. I'd rather see Song, Koscielny and Vermaelen rested too but we've that many injuries it's not possible.

3 defenders is not always a sign of attacking intent.

Your formation doesn't usually say much about your attacking intent. It's the players and the instructions they are given that determine how aggressively the team will go forward. Even 4 3 2 1 formations have been used to devastating effect.

Compared to Napoli, they always play with three at the back, Sagna can do what Maggio does and then some, but we don´t have anyone capable of doing what Zuniga does.

Can't see us going three at the back, it will be 442 or 433, possibly with Song in defence and more attacking midfield trio.

Who are we going to play in midfield? I don't think Rosicky is good enough to play a 4-4-2 with Song. But I also don't want to see a midfield three of Song, Rosicky and Benayoun.

I think going 4-4-2 against Milan would be suicidal as they play very narrow and with Song/Rosicky in the center we would get overrun. Chambo through the middle in a game like this is risky, but it's been said many times that he is more of a midfielder than attacker so it would be interesting to see him there.

Yeah obviously robin will play, he is here to play in big games like these in the cl, i assume he would be majorly pissed if he got rested for this game even if it is a lost cause.

We will probably play either Oxpot behind RVP or RVP behind Walcott. Either way it is virtually a 4-4-2.
