Its either Man City, Man Utd or Juventus. I don't think he'll join Juventus considering their highest paid player is only on 5.5 million a year. They wouldn't want to upset the players who just won them the league unbeaten by smashing their wage structure for RvP. He's either heading to Manchester or staying at Arsenal. He knows he'll never be forgiven if he joins another English team.

It's hilarious hearing opposition supporters getting all excited about the impending loss of RvP, they think that we'll give up our "Prize" easily.
Yes he was crucial to the recent campaign but fact is Van Persie did fuck all for 6 years before last season, we supporters know that Wenger do whatever it takes to keep us at this level.

Yeah, but in the six years where van Persie was in a wheelchair we had Fabregas. I've probably said it elsewhere, but it's a shame that neither of them could manage 38 games, uninterrupted, together.

Also, the league's getting more competitive every few seasons. To me it seems like a matter of time before we slip out of the top four.

I agree. I keep on hearing the rhetoric of "one good season" over the last few days and it just goes to show how short of a memory the average football fan has.

He had one season where he was the best player in the league and two very good seasons before then. 08/09 he was voted Arsenal player of the season by the fans with 20 goals 16 assists as a support striker and in 10/11 he was only two goals away from the premier league golden boot despite playing less games. 22 goals and 7 assists that season. So he has had seasons where he contributed immensely to the team. He also played an important role in our FA Cup triumph in 2005.

It wasn't a great season for Arsenal and Van Persie's form did drop after his groin injury around march but overall he played a "good season" and thats reflected by his stats. People forget that in the first half of that season he practically carried the team on his back and he had to with Cesc long term injury.

Every time I wake up I go here to find out if there is anything new on RvP's future. This is pretty much the worst period of the year for me when it comes to Arsenal. Can't wait until he fucks off so we can see where we are and what to do. I'd probably go too if I were him because, let's be honest, the chance that we will win anything in the next couple of years is really small, but there is a huge need to do this shit and get him out as soon as possible.

Sure I would. There are 3 basic reasons why I (and players in general) play football: 1) because I like the game and enjoy it; 2) to earn some money; 3) to achive something = win some trophies and get my name on it to be successful. Whether he goes to Juventus, Madrid, United or City, the first point stands, he'll earn more and will also have a much bigger chance to win the domestic league or the cup in all of these clubs than he has had at Arsenal. Big players have already left and those who came in aren't as good so yeah, I would leave if I could. I wouldn't be a cunt like him and release that statement about a club he apparently loves in such an idiotic way but there you go. The bottom line is that he's almost 29 and has better chanllenges ahead of him elsewhere.

I think being the star turn for your boyhood club, while playing Champions League every year and earning loads, is about as good as it gets for any footballer.

It's all good and great until you realize that your fun ends for you (being out of the tittle race and CL) about as soon as it starts for other players in 'better clubs" (title race until the last minute, progressing in the CL and so on). Let's put the fact that we're huge Arsenal fans and would die to eat a bit of the Emirates grass aside. That we play in the CL every year and most players who play here now always wanted to play here isn't enough anymore, we've seen it in the last couple of years and will see it in the near future as well. It's cool that we're in a healthy financial situation, what isn't that cool is that we're a few weeks away from losing our literally last world class player we've got, surely something is wrong.

I can't put the fact that we are huge Arsenal fans aside because RVP is also supposed to be a huge Arsenal fan. As far as I am concerned, being Arsenal's best player and captain is my dream and would be the absolute pinnacle of my career. Theres not much that would make me want to give that up.

You'd be a player most managers would dream of then, Timbo. What you are saying wasn't even the case when we were winning big things, even back then the big players were leaving for better chalenges, let alone now when we're in shit and nothing suggests that something is going to change. As a player, I'd rather be the 7th best player somewhere else and have the chance to win something than this being a hero and best player going into a new season knowing I'll win fuck all and relying on Walcott's crossess and Song's brilliance which are about the only ways how to score. Then again, everything loses its attraction after some time.

Footballers aren't like the rest of us though. If I was a player at a club I didn't support and spent 7 years getting injured every couple of months and then had one blistering season I doubt I'd move from the club that stood by me so suddenly. That alone is lousy, then to try force a move with a sneaky press release its just downright low.
