Not sure he wanted Fabregas to 'rot in the reserves', it's just that we had Fabregas tied down to a relatively long deal so if we had kept him, he'd have had little choice but to play to the best of his ability.

I'm not complely sure I'm that surprised that he doesn't want to extend his contract but the way he let everyone know about that made me quite sure I don't want him to stay anymore, just hope he will be replaced.

Wenger got Vieira to stay despite the rumours back then but is that magic wearing off now or was that a combination of David Dein and Wenger? Vieira didn't issue a public statement saying that the club had no ambition. Doesn't compare at all.

Yea that was pretty brutal from Vieira. These type of things happen a lot so all talk of burning bridges and toxic dressing rooms is over exaggerated. Hopefully we can convince him to stay but i don't count on it.

Indeed and it's worth noting that that article dates from a time when we were in a mini ice age too.
But I don't really care if RvP stays another year or not- mentally we're detached.
All this talk of players being vilified and lacking respect is bollocks, fact is- this is football, the only thing that is respected is success in the form of trophies, when you lack it nothing goes right and the vultures circle, when you've got it you ride the wave.
