Pretty sure United fans were bitter over Tevez, and Barca fans were bitter over Figo. If anything it's usually smaller clubs if any that take the 'understanding' approach when unwillingly losing a player.

Wenger's comments on first reading seemed very innocuous and in light of Van Persie's statement they sound more like a plea than a threat/ warning. If anything, to me there seems to be a desperation in those words, of a man who knows he has lost a struggle.

It'd be too much grief all around now following his statement which was effectively his big move to start the end game.

Fans are deadly angry, at a guess I'd say the vast majority would want him sold as soon as possible.
No point in prolonging this and allowing the situation to become destructive in terms of the feeling within the squad as a whole.

But, considering all the big clubs(City, United, Barca, Madrid) are flocked with strikers and noone really has a dying need for one, are Juve the only interested club? If so, I dont see them offering a lot tbh. Should we sell him for say a meagre 12M?

I don't think Van persie is frustrated at our lack of trophies, each club goes through a drought at one point or another, i am sure even RvP is aware of that, what probably frustrated him is our lack of ambition we showed in the meeting with him. The board probably told him that they were satisfied with 4th place finishes for the near future.
RvP is a gooner, no doubt about that, but if he considered moving of all people, then you know something is wrong.

Also, I am curious to hear what Rex has to say on this. He kept saying we should have held on to Fabregas and let him rot in the reserves. Robin too?

Not sure he wanted Fabregas to 'rot in the reserves', it's just that we had Fabregas tied down to a relatively long deal so if we had kept him, he'd have had little choice but to play to the best of his ability.

His hamstring psychological issues would probably have rendered him useless if we'd forced him to stay.

If reports are accurate, Juve's bid has done the damage they hope for. They'll bump it up to 15m and we'll concede defeat eventually.

Hope we whore him out to the whole of Europe now.

He can fuck off to Serie A and Juventus.

I am confident we can replace his goals even if we don't buy another striker. We just need to make some good signings, add creativity and we will be fine. Adebayor had a 30 goal season with us. Podolski and Giroud will be decent to put away chances if we manage to create them.

I hope he goes there and we face each other in the CL.
