I agree Biggus. What looks set to happen with Van Persie is more or less what many fans advocated before the last 18 months or so were up.
I think we should be doing more to try to keep him - particularly if it's about a relatively small amount of money, like £20-30k/w - but I'm already disengaging myself emotionally.
However, if he goes, I will feel ever so slightly better if he picks up a three month injury shortly thereafter.
@[deleted] Somewhat presumptuous to use our "long term trend and historical status" to justify setting low expectations. We were actually the most successful club of the 20th C on average, as can be seen here (scroll to "20th Century Overall League table").
The average tells nothing like the full story, but if any club should have high expectations based on long term trends, perhaps it's us.
