I think selling to United sticks in all of our throats, but what choice do we have? Robin made it very clear what was going to happen back when he released that statement. I'm 100% sure he had spoken to United and knew they wanted him beforehand, it's not even up for debate in my mind - Wenger doesn't forgive something like that easily, and rightly so. It won't work out for him at Arsenal this season, you know, I know it, Wenger and the board know it, and the fans who booed van Persie in Germany know it too.
We're all well versed in how this is going to play out - sooner or later, the player gets what he wants. We can push the inevitable back to next summer, but it'll come at a cost - and you've got ask yourself whether van Persie will be worth it next year? And, as I said above, you know he won't be. If he doesn't sign a new contract, and he obviously won't, then he's got to go. Simple as that. United are the only club he'll go to, the only club he was ever going to go to. It's about getting as much money as possible from them now.
We've got to use that money wisely, that's what Wenger and the board have to focus on, that's what they now have to get right, van Persie has as good as made sure that's all they can control with his outrageous statement to the press.
