Well Lagos, I've predicted we won't win a major trophy even with Van Persie on the books, otherwise I'd be less cool about him going for £25m.

Wenger will renew if given the opportunity because he's run out of time for dynasty-building elsewhere, but he's way too obsessed with football to leave management.

We won one game and it was a friendly. Lets not get carried away, the 2007/2008 side is still better than our current squad and had the best start you could imagine and still fucked up. We still got a lot to prove.

Look, we look ok and squad wise we are good to go more or less but this time last year we werent the worst team in the world even when we were losing 8-2 to Utd and now were not the best team in the world after a good pre season transfer wise.

I wonder about how Robin felt seeing Podolski step up and basically take his role on the pitch.

If he stays, I would hope there will be no clash of egos as Podolski looks like a strong personality in his own right.

I don't agree with this assessment. I think we have a much, much better squad right now than we did in 07/08, and our attack line is stronger in almost all positions.

He will, though probably by a small minority.

07/08 squad was significantly smaller than this years, both in terms of quality and quantity. Starting lineup is probably better now too.

I think you may be underestimating the squad we had in 07/08.

The chemistry and connection of that midfield was almost on par with our 2004 side.

And not one player in our current squad is the level of Cesc in 07/08.

Which is why I noted 'almost' in all positions. Anyway, we have moved on, and I prefer this squad to that one.

Chemistry doesn't just arrive overnight, and we look very good already from early signs, even though this squad hasn't had the time to gel and play together with its best players.
