I'd take Van Persie in my line-up over Ibrahimovic any day of the week. Not suggesting he isn't incredibly talented but talent, alone, isn't enough. The Serie A wankfest 'round these parts is a bit stupid. Anyone with objective eyes knows the English league is considerably better than Serie A. Robin guarantees you 30 goals in the Premier League. Ibra does not.

He guarantees you more goal than Messi too, but I know who I would take. And I don't even rate serie A, only Klaus does.

Nevermind the amount of titles or the leagues they're playing in. Ibrahimovic is just blatantly a better player in pretty much every aspect. It doesn't mean that van Persie isn't great.

Ah do me a favour! As it stands, If you believe Van Persie's goalscoring record and general play in the last 18 months isn't unrepresentative of his true ability, then you believe he is an incredible player. Ibra (and I am a fan of his talent, honest!) hasn't matched that level. I even concede Ibra might be more talented but Van Persie's consistency in a tougher league puts him higher IMO.

Van Persie spent his prime years mostly sidelined by injury.
Unless he reproduces last years effort over the next few seasons he won't be rated universally as being up there with the top players of his generation.

That's not my point. In any case his best years are now. Currently, for the arsenal I would back Van Persie to perform at a higher level than Ibrahimovic. What he hasn't achieved in a team game up until now is irrelevant. For example, last season Arsenal's failure to win the league had nothing to do with him. Even with his team-mates being sub-par, he was phenomenal.

I agree, but my view is that, generally speaking, his ranking as a player would be debated and contested if he does not reproduce that form over the next few seasons.

How did this go from a fairly interesting discussion (I thought) about PSG and the value of a player with age to a generic cock measuring contest between Ibrahamovic and van Persie. It's been done before anyway, dig up the Milan threads.

Anyway, I completely agree about Lagos and his point about buying into brand Ibrahamovic. Along with everything else, Ibrahamovic signing on makes it easier for PSG to attract players. I don't think van Persie has that pull, as a personality he's not even a season old!

Also: have France increased their tax rate to 95% yet?

Apologies, I hadn't read the previous discussion about PSG. Lagos, you're right - I was just crudely talking about ability rather than transfer value or the brand.

Wenger is of course, he couldn't lie straight in bed.
It's well known that Utd City and Juve are interested in him, why be interested in a player and not make a bid- however derisory.

He's been as good as any other striker over the past five years. And consistently so.

He's also hugely dislikable and maybe there is some truth to him not being able to adapt to the team and making the team adapt to him. Given his profile you expect him to have won the CL by now/
